Ron DeSantis Is Young, Has Little Kids and Wants America to Know I

Ron DeSantis Is Young, Has Little Kids and Wants America to Know It
At 44, he is more than three decades younger than Donald Trump and Joe Biden. He is subtly playing up that age gap, even if his right-wing views leave him out of step with many younger voters.

Mr. DeSantis would be 46 on Inauguration Day if elected, younger than every president since John F. Kennedy. It’s a fact he doesn’t state explicitly, but his campaign has set out to make sure voters get it.

The Florida governor talks frequently about having the “energy and discipline” needed for the White House, keeping a busy schedule of morning and evening events. He and his wife, Casey DeSantis, often speak about their young children, who are 6, 5 and 3 and have joined their parents on the campaign trail. One of the few candidates with kids still at home, Mr. DeSantis regularly highlights his parental worries about schools and popular culture as he presses his right-wing social agenda.

When he signed the state budget on Thursday, he joked that a tax break on one of parenthood’s most staggering expenses — diapers — had come too late for his family, though not by much.

---------

His conservative views on abortion, climate change and how race is taught — among other issues — have left Mr. DeSantis out of step with many members of his own generation. Majorities of voters in his age bracket want abortion to be legal in all or most cases, think climate change is a very serious problem and support the Black Lives Matter movement. Only about one in four voters between the ages of 35 and 49 have a favorable view of Mr. DeSantis, according to the Quinnipiac poll.

Don’t you believe it. Dressing up like a family straight off of a magazine cover stands in stark contrast to how ugly his insides are. He is an empty suit-a cruel, cold leader here in Florida who will do anything and hurt anyone to advance his career.

The spotlight shouldn’t be on how he treats his own children. It should be on how he treats everybody else’s.

In addition to being younger and having kids, he is charmless, cold, petty, cruel, and hopefully facing criminal charges regarding kidnapping and human trafficking of asylum-seekers.

He is the Anti-Father's Day figure.

OK, having a spouse who doesn’t have to work and three children isn’t anything younger voters in this country can relate to. Add his bizarre culture war issues on books and abortion, and he might as well be as old and out of touch with ordinary American lives and preferences as his main competitor.

DeSantis doesn't do anything "subtly". He made a commercial for Trump where he used his kids to "build a wall" with their building blocks. He read a book to his kids that went "Then Mr Trump said...." I'm sure that book won't be banned. I'm hoping his lack of subtly and sensitivity will be the reason for his downfall.

I'd vote for Joe even if he were 100 years old. Compassion, integrity and trying to represent all in our country.
DeSantis and trump are grifters and incredibly vengeful, hateful men, who do not seem to be running to help our country, but to only enrich themselves.

agree!! DeSantis is George Wallace 2.0... substitute " Alabama is where integration goes to die " for " Florida is where woke goes to die" and you understand his philosophy of government

10. NYT worked hard to elect TFG and hurt the Clinton campaign

I cancelled my subscription to the NYT due to the unfair coverage of Hillary Clinton. The NYT and Haberman helped elect TFG

“The 2-year frenzy over the emails was a political Rorschach test where everyone saw something different in what was ultimately nothing. Call it sexism, Republican depravity, ratings-hungry media, it’s time we acknowledge it was bullshit, and write that into the history books.” – Hillary Clinton

Back in 2016, their reporter Maggie Haberman amplified the Hillary Clinton conspiracy which Trump campaigned on. I and many other conservatives who supported Trump (including others like me who learned this was a mistake) did our best to get this to the masses to say ‘Hillary Clinton was an irresponsible leader and unfit to be President.’ At the time I was spreading this lie, I didn’t know it was a lie, and the fact that the Times writer amplified it, even more, made us believe we were right and this possibly persuaded undecided electoral voters to pick Trump. Little did I know that I would eventually learn that Hillary Clinton was exonerated of any wrongdoing, and I apologized for my part in spreading this lie.,,,,,

Maggy Haberman and the not-so-liberal media the NY Times owe Hillary Clinton a public apology.

We all owe a thank you to Nick Merill for informing all of us about a disservice to the public emanating from the Old Gray Lady when it suddenly began to betray its motto of publishing “all the news that’s fit to print.”
