How can I miss you when you won't go away?
I keep telling you day after day.
But you won't listen, you always stay and stay
How can I miss you when you won't go .

22. Three Songs by The Man in Black

We have three songs by Johnny that could fit.

Folsom Prison Blues. (For the future).

When the Man Comes Around. (For Jack Smith).

Hurt. (Because every time TFG speaks he hurts himself)

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
And no one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated to telling only lies
But my dreams they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what its like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you
No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through
But my dreams they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what its like
To be mistreated, to be defeated
Behind blue eyes
An no one know how to say
That they're sorry and don't worry
I'm not telling lies
But my dreams they aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what its like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

“You hurt the ones that I love best
And covered up the truth with lies.
One day you’ll be in the ditch,
Flies buzzing around your eyes
Blood on your saddle.
Idiot wind …”

16. A Northern California blues band known a Rick Estrin and the Nightcats

years ago had a song called Dump that Chump about a guy telling a girl to dump her boyfriend and go with him. During the pandemic when they couldn't work the blues clubs they took to You Tube performing from remote locations virtually. They came up with this rewrite of the song:

Great band, I've been seeing them for over 40 years with many personnel changes. The singer is the only original member, but the music hasn't changed. If you like blues, check them out on YouTube. They used to be called Little Charlie and the Nightcats after their guitar player, Charly Baty, who passed away a few years ago. If you live in Northern California, you've probably heard of them, although they do perform outside of there, even going to Europe sometimes. If you like live great blues in a small club, go see them if you can.

In the Jailhouse Now by Jimmie Rodgers (1928)
Jimmie Rodgers on YouTube.

This goes way back to when my dad was a young man working in sawmills and he loved Jimmie Rodgers along with listening to the Grand Ole Opry on the radio.

But the lyrics are still appropriate for TFG.

45. Old Man Trump

Lyrics written by Woody Guthrie in 1954 about his awful landlord Fred Trump (like father, like son).

He never recorded the song but others have.

Lyrics:

I suppose that Old Man Trump knows just how much racial hate
He stirred up in that bloodpot of human hearts
When he drawed that color line
Here at his Beach Haven family project

Here's an acoustic rendition of it by the husband of Woody's granddaughter:
