I hope the FBI follows up on your report.

(9,482 posts)If some of the references I found are correct, they both have questionable backgrounds; ie, dealing drugs.
But the womans posting this has a point: Name ANYONE on the left that spouts ANYTHING comparable to this?
peppertree
(23,402 posts)As you know, most of their mouth-breathers believe that "most violence comes from the left!"
It's a topsy-turvy world - at least where Repugs are concerned.

As with most other constitutionally guaranteed liberties, the First Amendment right to free speech has its limits. Miller, whose speech most certainly crossed the line, pleaded guilty in a Dallas federal court and was sentenced to 27 months in prison without parole.

Then I stopped. What I heard was protected speech. People can say all kinds of things online that you don't like.

It's 6 am. Rise and shine. And don't forget your booties 'cause it's cold out there today. It's cold out there every day. What is this, Miami Beach?

(18,025 posts)And that's what these guys are.
SickOfTheOnePct
(8,710 posts)In protected speech, no matter how repulsive, or you dont.
You apparently fall in the latter group, which is of course, your right. I fall in the former.
GoneOffShore
(18,025 posts)Guys like this would be jailed there now.

Remember Popper's 'Paradox of Intolerance'

Obviously, your mileage may vary.
SickOfTheOnePct
(8,710 posts)My mileage varies considerably.
GoneOffShore
(18,025 posts)SickOfTheOnePct
(8,710 posts)No. I'm certainly free to tell someone that they can't "talk that way" in my home. Or a business is certainly free to tell someone "you can't talk that way in my business".
But at the level where government says "You can't talk that way at all", then yes, I think it's wrong.
GoneOffShore
(18,025 posts)What would be your standard of government prohibited speech?
SickOfTheOnePct
(8,710 posts)Isnt protected speech.
I wish all of the xyz group were dead or If I could, Id kill all of the xyz group is repulsive, but protected.
Join me in killing the xyz group or Take up arms and kill the xyz group is incitement and is. Not protected.
GoneOffShore
(18,025 posts)None should be "protected speech".
SickOfTheOnePct
(8,710 posts)As I am to mine.
I did just edit my post, as I noticed that I had put "it protected" when I meant to put "not protected".
GoneOffShore
(18,025 posts)Look at Popper's Paradox of Intolerance again.

(8,710 posts)Thats what free speech is about - allowing speech even if it is repulsive.
GoneOffShore
(18,025 posts)SickOfTheOnePct
(8,710 posts)Which is up to the point of inciting violence.
I've been very clear on where I stand, you've been very clear on where you stand, and neither of us is going to change our minds, so what's the point of continuing this discussion?
Have a great weekend (what little is left of it).

(82,383 posts)Nothing to arrest them for right now, but the Secret Service can be proactive. The people they are involved with, their own movements - perhaps no search warrants or arrests. But no harm keeping an eye out for who it is that might actually do or inspire others to do something.

(4,203 posts)the FBI should have them on their radar.
With the FBI's long history of infiltrating left wing groups, surely they can do likewise with groups like the ones these guys represent.
Good call!

(4,557 posts)Is that saying "If I was a general I would...", "If it was legal, I would...", "Someone should..." does not meet the constitutional threshold for inciting violence. Talking about violent fantasies is not illegal.

(3,535 posts)They seem to think they are as stupid as they are. First, every US Marine officer knows they don't have the authority to engage in civilian affairs. I even asked a Marine Master Sargent about illegal orders once and he told one call to the AG and its over for the issuer of the order followed by Court Marshall. The whole thing is an insault on the intelligence and professionalism of the Corps.

peppertree
(23,402 posts)But as you know, to our Farce News-watching and Hate Radio-listening friends, they're "persecuted patriots" or some such drivel.
Plus - let's not forget - Wall Street and the CEOcracy likes them (with exceptions). These seditionists fight their tax/regulatory battles for them - and that's just how they like it.
They like keeping their hands clean, you know.
mahatmakanejeeves
(70,282 posts)For example, saying If they ever make me carry a rifle the first man I want to get in my sights is L.B.J. while at a protest at the Washington Monument in 1966 was protected speech.

treestar
(82,383 posts)a few variables that make it unlikely to come true.
Probably no marine general would do what the speaker would do if he were in their place.
Getting close enough to Biden to do what he suggests would take a lot more than talk.
But stochastic terrorism is where he could get someone else to do it - play out his violent fantasies.

(53,284 posts)One of the first things we are told is, you are required to refuse an illegal order.
These two idiots have described the most illegal order imaginable.
What would actually happen if they issued an order like this: Sir, Im going to need that order in writing. With a signature.
Once he gave this order in writing, hed be tackled, beaten senseless and handed over to the Secret Service.
