(Bloomberg) -- Rudy Giuliani was ordered to pay the attorney fees of two Georgia election workers suing him for defamation, after a judge found he failed to comply with his obligations to turn over evidence in the case.
US District Judge Beryl Howell entered an order on Friday directing Giuliani to cover what it cost the lawyers for Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea Shaye Moss to pursue their successful motion to compel him to produce information.
The order doesnt specify the amount hell owe; the judge directed the plaintiffs to disclose that in a later filing. Howell wrote that Giuliani had failed to show that his resistance to the plaintiffs discovery requests was substantially justified, which meant he was required to pay their attorney fees.
Freeman and Moss became the subject of 2020 post-election voter fraud conspiracy theories that Giuliani, former President Donald Trump, and other Trump allies promoted. Earlier this week, the Georgia State Election Board announced it had formally cleared Freeman and Moss of any wrongdoing.

(4,662 posts)at whatever their hourly rate is. Maybe $500 an hour? $30k to $50k max - and thats probably on the high side. This is nice, but a drop in the bucket compared to what theyre owed for the nightmare hes put them through. The damages in their case should be millions when its all said and done.

Probably the most pathetic downfalls of all of the poor miscreants serving Trump. And of course only Trump will, unfortunately, retain a place in America's lore, and be reviled, but also worshipped by the deepest of the Republican base for a very long time. But his hangers on like Rudy will never get his respect back in any form at all. MAGAts will probably actually hate him for embarrassing their Dear President, and for failing him.

(8,009 posts)like the would be revolutionaries who destroyed the Capitol and damn near killed every policeman right there and then that day (although some died later, rest their souls), will this give them pause next time they decide to spew their propaganda?
Well, I certainly hope so and it sure makes me feel happy some are holding them to account.
