TITANIC SUBMERSIBLE VICTIMS HONORED AT TITANIC MUSEUMS ... Names Will Be Added to Display

https://www.tmz.com/2023/06/24/titanic-museums-memorial-oceangate-submersible-victims/

The 5 victims who lost their lives in the submersible expedition to Titanic are being honored with ceremonies at 2 museums where the original 1912 tragedy is memorialized.

The Titanic Museum Attraction locations -- one in Pigeon Forge, TN, and another in Branson, MO -- held private memorials Friday with staff members ... according to Mary Kellog-Joslyn, who co-owns both spots with her husband, John.

Mary says her husband has a personal connection to one of the victims, Paul-Henri Nargeolet ... telling us they both were part of the second team to explore the Titanic wreckage way back in 1987.

--------

We're told they're going to etch the 5 new names in the glass, too -- permanently adding them to the existing list of victims.

Honoured? I'm not so sure they did anything worthy of honour. The teenager was essentially innocent of responsibility, not having much experience as an adult and pressured into it by his love of his father, which is an honourable love.

All the same, they were human beings and deserve respect for that.

... "victims" in a poetic sense, maybe... but these people should not be added to the original Titanic victims list. I hope there's an *, at least.

This shit makes me crazy, some humans just suck the goodness out of our collective humanity.

Iditerod is cruel to animals but the racers are heroes.

Climbing Everest is some kind of feat, but Sherpas and others are injured or killed for this "sport".

The Titan shit was just a new low in bullshit adventurism and they should be shamed, not memorialized.

Bullshit.

Those who died on the Titanic were innocent victims who had nothing to do with the events that caused their deaths.

Those who died on the Titan were wealthy thrill seekers who contributed to their own demises simply by taking the joyride. They are not victims.

Why are there Titanic museums in Tennessee and Missouri? These are obviously money-making endeavors. Adding the names of Titan’s dead seems like the museums are trying to drum up business by exploiting the sensationalism of those foolish thrill-seekers.

Despicable.

The passengers of the Titanic at least got on it to travel to the U.S. Not just for thrills.

Before '97 you could find Titanic artifact exhibits that were a whole lot more history oriented without the "My Heart Will Go On" soundtrack in the background. I have been a Titanic nut since I was a kid and tons of books and am still building a scale model. I went to at least 2 exhibits of artifacts before the release of Cameron's film.

Since then I've been to the one in Branson and it is much like this one in Tennessee. They have the feel of an amusement park. And don't forget to get some schlocky souvenirs in the shop before you leave!

As far as the film goes, the special effects are great, the fake romance of the fake main characters not so much. The actual story is so compelling and because there are so many real passenger and crew stories it was disappointing to see Cameron invent this unnecessary plot.

What they were doing was ghoulish. And what are they going to do if another miniature submarine sinks while desecrating that graveyard?

I'm sorry they died, but they have no place being honored along with those who died in the original sinking.
