I'm not always in a place where I can watch a video. I see a thread that really want to read, then boom! It's another video

(26,236 posts)videos. Sure they may be interesting and such, but damn, I don't want to have to spend all of my time on DU just watching these videos. It seems like everyone of them is 10+- minutes or so in length). I like by far, the discussions part of DU, not the simple copy and paste of these long videos.

(25,017 posts)Im grateful to DUer TexasTowelie who posts Ring of Fire videos with a transcript. If only more posters would consider this, it would make the posts more accessible.

A summary would be a 5 second appetizer to see if more detail is desired.

So long as people post their videos there, it's easy to ignore them if you don't like videos and easy to find for folks like me who enjoy watching a few in the evening.
I'm grateful to anyone who takes the time to share content here, whether it's in the form of an article, a tweet or a video. I'd hate for anyone who makes that effort to be discouraged from posting however they like to post.

(26,523 posts)Do appreciate when there is a transcript or synopsis.

(102,082 posts)I appreciate most of the videos that are informative and are often news I would not have access to otherwise. What I don't care for are the ones that have no description or summary and the ones that require going to twitter to see. I'll open a Mastadon link but most of those show in the body text while twitter does not.
Anyway, the videos do provide news, in one place, that I don't have access to out here in rural flyover land.

(140 posts)I propose a small change: Video and Multimedia should be split into 1) Video and Multimedia - VONT (video only no text); and 2) Video and Multimedia W/T (with transcript or text).
If the OPs were halfway honest, you could easily choose to click through or not.

(8,577 posts)Then I keep that forum hidden ("trashed"
so that the posts don't show up during regular browsing; when I want to watch videos, I go to that forum directly. There should really be such a forum for Tweets imho, for the same reason.
The Lounge, being the Lounge, is an exception.
In general, I really resent clickbait.
