India drops teaching Evolution and the Periodic Table in schools

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/india-cuts-periodic-table-and-evolution-from-school-textbooks/

They join Pakistan and Turkey as populous States that are not teaching the basic foundation of Biology. But they are also throwing out Chemistry.

It is a combination of religious fundamentalism and anti-colonialism that pushes this misguided agenda. It is not "Western Science" it is just Science.

need to start shouting from the rooftops that we are against ignorance in any form....most especially religious form, as far as I'm concerned. It needs to be a pushback the likes we've never seen. Ignorance is so so dangerous!!! And churches and religious zealots seem to be elevating it.

I don't automatically respect anyone's religious beliefs.

Fundamentalist anti-intellectual religions of any flavor ought to be rejected.

It's astonishing to me how many people worship these petty, cruel, and capricious gods; the god of the anti-intellectual evangelical Christians included.

If you freak out when you discover the universe is much larger than your tiny little god then throwing a temper tantrum and torturing other people, especially children, for their curiosity isn't a good solution to your problem.

Yes, all you worshipers of the petty, cruel and capricious gods, you have a problem. As you are a reflection of your gods, your gods are a reflection of you. If your god is an asshole it's likely you are too.

The rot started there. Fascists, many who really don't care about religion one way or another, manipulate these religious fools for their own purposes, even playing one religious faction against another. The Nazis turned "conservative" Lutherans and Catholics against "The Jews," homosexuals, disabled people, etc. The playbook hasn't changed.

Trump wipes his ass with pages from the Bible every day but these morons love him. Putin is the same sort.

The "monied interests with an agenda" wouldn't have a chance if these anti-intellectual religions and ideologies hadn't prepared such a fertile ground of ignorance for them.

"Tolerance" of these religions is not an admirable quality, especially when certain conservative religious beliefs break through the walls separating church and state and start knocking vulnerable people down and kicking them in the head as an assertion of their twisted "beliefs."

Look, if you believe that your god created everything a few thousand years ago and that all of geology can be explained by the flood that wiped out every creature on earth not saved by Noah, fine, keep that crazy shit to yourself. You are a fucking idiot. Don't weasel your way into my child's classroom. If you consider abortion immoral then don't have one. If you consider same sex marriage immoral, don't marry someone of the same sex. Etc. Etc..

Whatever you do don't inflict your cruel beliefs, your faith in your puny pathetic gods, on the rest of us. (I'm looking at you, "conservative" members of the formerly supreme court, RIP, killed by the republican party.)

Years ago all I had to do was look around the faculty in the sciences at the local University.

As for keeping people at home in India, the tech company my husband works for has a branch in India where the number of employees far surpasses the number still employed by the company in the US. Now, we have personal opinions about that, given that my husband is one of those remaining Americans, but the fact is the company can hire multiple people in India for what they have to pay each person in the US, and they can count on these people to be well-educated and prepared to learn the craft.

Jesus Christ on a Trailer Hitch — right wing governments are incredibly short-sighted. But maybe the actual goal is to have an ill-educated population they can manipulate. Gods know we have evidence enough of that in nearly 1/2 of the states in the USA.

families who want their children to get a good all around education will have to sneak, get books, teach them.

The countries that allow higher education will go forward in intelligence and compassion for others.

Countries that down grade will be living in the dark ages.

But these same countries banning higher education, the elites will still pursue the stars, medication and vaccines for only for them.

.

There is no incentive to stop the thefts in India. Anti-scammers have had people arrested and firms shut down only to find the people are set free and allowed to reopen their scam firms. I guess it's because they bring in hundreds of millions in wealth transfers into the Indian economy.

I get anywhere between 20-60 scam calls daily on each of my phones, cell & landline.

Just to name a few, off the top of my head. . .

Medicare
Customs and Border Patrol.
Auto Warranty
Diabetes
Home Loans
Solar panels
Debt Consolidation
Walmart iPhone purchase
Amazon MacBook purchase
Camp Lejune Water Contamination
Auto Accidents in the past 2 years
Social Security Number Compromised
This is a call from your electric company and can reduce your bill by 30%
This is Bank of America, Chase, Merrill Lynch, TD bank calling
This is Visa & Mastercard -or- Discover Card calling
etc.
