Re: The Harvard Case in front of SCOTUS

I'm not going to address Affirmative Action in general or the NC case.

But...

As I've said before here on DU, I worked for a major SoCal BioPharma for 20+ years.

In my position, as a Project Engineer, I worked with highly talented M.D.'s and Ph.D's on a daily basis.

When I was working in China, I even lived in the same "company housing" as them.

I've been to their weddings, their childrens weddings and their funerals.

I worked mostly with Asian and Africans... some immigrants themselves and some 1st or 2nd Gen.

The Asians were mostly Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Pakistani and a few from Cambodia, Laos or Vietnam.

The Africans were mostly from Nigeria and Ghana.

To the last one, these are BRILLIANT folks. Top of their classes and top of their field to be hired at my former employer.

I had the opportunity to see inside their families and their philosophy of education. And YES, as you may have heard, it's strict. It's not uncommon for Asian or African families in the USA to view the school grading system as pass/fail, meaning an A, a perfect grade symbolizes completing the work... passing. Anything less than a perfect grade is because of mistakes and is unacceptable.

Makes sense, an Engineer makes a mistake on a load bearing column for a bridge and it might fall down... a Scientist makes a mistake in a clinical trial and it costs the company money and more importantly, TIME.

And YES, it's true... I've heard stories of their children or grandchildren being denied admission to colleges because despite their sky high GPA and related interests... they were too ASIAN. Or the college felt they'd already admitted too many Asians.

A college may choose to accept 25 Asian students with an average GPA or average SAT scores in the 98th percentile.

But that student sitting at 97th percentile might be out in the cold. Because... Asian.

The Harvard case was about anti-Asian racism and discrimination.

Bear with me. I need the SALT Cap lifted and put back to where it was.

My state/town fully funds public education - we get back very little from Fed Gov.

My property taxes tipped over 10K this year.

Congress and Trump reneged on the promise of the Federal Income tax in 2017 - and they no longer allow me to take a credit for my 8K in STATE income taxes.

I want that 8K to give to the UNCF for HCBUs. I already give a minimum of 5K A year -

But its go time for the descendants of Jim Crow America. Those of us who can help need to be allowed to put our money where we want to put it.

We just need non black Americans who benefit at our expense - to get out of the way.

The target was black Americans.

When those kids don't get in next year - they better blame it on white folks.

and other programs that HELP students from disadvantaged backgrounds prepare themselves for college SO THAT they're on an equal footing to other students.

If the Trump tax cuts expire here soon... the SALT cap disappears, IIRC.

To the Indigenous community.

If they could repeal that part this year - I would be inclined to press the family legacy schools to actively reach out to indigenous kids. Their schools are criminally underfunded.

Again - a better use of my money than the blatant transfer of wealth from a black American who descends from the enslaved.

I've bow officially flipped to my people first. I have been left no choice.
