Will SCOTUS eliminate the strict scrutiny test and allow relentless discrimination against non-whites, non-Christians?

(67,112 posts)is promote hostilities and ignorance across the US. And promote a divided nation. I often have grave reservations the US will remain one country with crap like this going on from SCOTUS. They do little to promote togetherness, balance and fairness. The scales of justice are clearly broken.

(4,002 posts)It's like James Bond... Religion can be used for anything as a weapon. Just have a "sincerely held religious belief" and short of murder you're ready to go. Do whatever you want in the name of God ( as long as He's the "right God" ) and anything goes. You're in the clear with the SCOTUS.

Theocracy is next on the checklist, and between state govs and SCOTUS they're setting the trajectory.

(7,790 posts)since I went on a rant about it yesterday, matching my daughter's opinions one for one.
But look how far they've got with viagra. Despite it possibly being harmful to a man's health due to chance of stroke, heart attack, etc., they've got that drug down to what? 63 cents a pill? Disgusting. And I'm REALLY sick and tired of seeing all those commercials on TV.
And yet chronic illnesses like the various types autoimmune diseases are shuttled off to the background. I'm so tired of hearing, sorry... there's just nothing else out there right now for your fibromyalgia. But by god, we can get viagra down to 63 cents a pill. Cheap date, eh?
I do wish we could get all women to band together and say "no more sex until you get your priorities straight." Hail, Lysistrata!

(8,103 posts)I said that once, and women on the board rose up against the idea, presumably because they like sex, too, so the action wouldn't hold. But (excuse me, pussy power) is powerful and would work, if we stuck together. Ain't no hetero gonna give it up.
But, now we have the SC to contend with, so I dunno...

(9,238 posts)Not sure what specifically but the GOP's biggest fear is that Republicans are becoming more and more the minority so they have to stop Democrats from voting somehow. So expect cases being brought to SC that will restrict voting rights that affect minorities and liberals.

(24,486 posts)of the Democratic Party because when you don't vote for the Democratic nominee you only help the Republican.
How many on the Left in battleground states who were just too noble and righteous to bring themselves to vote for the lesser of 2 perceived evils in 2016 because they didn't like Hillary although they liked Trump much less?
How many on the Left in those battleground states felt Hillary was a lock to win so that freed them from either not voting or voting for a 3rd party.
Here in Wisconsin in '16, Jill Stein of the Green Party received more votes than Trump's margin of victory and those were votes that overwhelmingly came from the Left.
So we have choices and consequences. Imagine the Supreme Court justices chosen by a President Hillary Clinton and how it would have impacted the history of America. Trump and today's American flirtation with fascism would just be part of an American alternate universe in a horrific novel.
