and they are cherry picking assholes, think again, the LGBT ruling says pretty clearly that these hypocrites will file a brief on getting these two agencies dismantled, look no further than what they ruled on concerning the EPA and the Clean Water Act......you have and we as a nation had one lying justice make remarks about babysitters in her opinion when it came to the Student Loan Forgiveness.......and her fucking hypocritical remarks....she and the other liars know that Congress passed a law to gave Biden the means with a law to do what he did.....from the Iraq War ......and the recent Covid death match that was running rampant throughout the world and is still here in some ways ......

(23,240 posts)Both passed by congress, never challenged constitutionally.
Who would have standing to challenge the law? A disgruntled taxpayer?
What constitutional rights would be claimed to have been violated?
While I have heard plenty about Republicans scheming to use legislation to gut SS and Medicare, Ive never heard a Serious proposal to kill it via SCOTUS.

(23,240 posts)In fact, some of them were to ensure benefits to someone who had been denied them.
So, are you able to outline the steps a potential case would take to dismantle the programs, or not?
Edit: This appears to be the only case where someone tried to have SS taxes declared unconstitutional:

The court ruled against, 7-2
The current court could indeed make up reasons to end SS or Medicare, and that is about the only situation where I could see Dems winning a supermajority in the senate, and altering the Constitution to gut the courts unchecked authority.
Congress would first expand the court to nullify all the recent rulings, create ethics laws with criminal penalties, and amend the constitution to create age and term limits for SCOTUS.
With SS and Medicare programs canceled, I predict Amendments restricting the power of SCOTUS would easily be ratified by the more than the required 38 states.
I guess well find out just how foolish the Roberts court is.
