It’s plenty odd on its own. But it takes an even more surreal turn about 10 seconds in, when the camera pans up from a dark pool of water to a naked man standing on a rock formation of some sort with a machine shining a bright red laser on his groin. A voiceover suggests that this is would help produce “men who are tough, men who are resourceful, men who are strong enough to survive,” and who could “reestablish order.”

That was a horrible campaign ad. First, he lied about Trump's record. Most of the pro-LGBTQ+ things Trump said were before he was elected. Second, I thought the headlines passed on the screen far too fast. Finally, the choice of music did not seem to fit the ad. If he was trying to reach MAGA, I think it would have been better for him to do any ad where he listed the law he has enacted in Florida.

During the last election there was a consistent group of Trump supporters that were on the corner of a relatively busy intersection.

They had huge posters and cutouts of Trump - well more accurately Trump’s head on top images of Stallone as Rocky, or Superman, or some bodybuilder and other things like that. Combined with some images of Hillary Clinton in jail and other silly BS.


This ad reminds me of that very strongly. It is meant to appeal that crowd who can’t distinguish between politics and professional wrestling. The more over the top and insane it is the better. Especially if it talks down and attacks others.
