Will they think Russia is a deadly enemy again? Or is it our besty? Whenever the normal conservatives are back in control of whatever follows the GOP, will they be ok with that? Will NATO be in their good graces?

(28,360 posts)It always turns up. Truth be told, these clowns have ALWAYS been with us, since the founding, in one incarnation or another. I could write a whole essay about the times they have reared their ugly heads in our politics, but for now, I'll just cite the emergence of the KKK through the last century. Yeah, they were temporarily shunted during the civil rights movement, but they came back strong with Reagan, and growing wild again. Like cancer, venereal disease, and poison ivy, they just hang around and make life miserable for us all.

(6,918 posts)I believe these guys don't really see policy or position as relevant (boring, words, reading, etc.) in any real or tangible way.
I think the only real draw this base of lowest common denominators are looking for is nothing more than who looks/sounds most telegenic when instructing them who, how, and why to hate.

(7,359 posts)...willing to pick up Trump's mantra.... All of Putin's likely successors to be more aggressive than he is....
The answer is "No".
And after this war is over, I think NATO is more likely to fragment. Sure its all roses and rainbows now, but that doesn't last.

(10,961 posts)my guess is you will see the emergence of another Trumpish asshole. They have shown that they like assholes, and they appear to want to be ruled. I dont think there will be normal conservatives back in control in the foreseeable future.

(60,309 posts)When the Wall came down, and the East German regime shortly after it, Parties like the DKP (German Communist Party) and the PCF (French Communist Party) came close to evaporating, since the source of their financing no longer existed.
It makes me wonder about the financing behind people like Trump, Roger Stone, etc., if the Putin regime were to fall.

Those of us who never had the blessings of dominant groups privilege (white, christian, male, straight) have known this for a very long time, but nobody listened to us when we pointed it out.
