The most hilarious part of the Twitter vs Thread war is that

Twitter suddenly cancelled their blocking of links to persons who aren’t signed up.
They sure are afraid of that mass exodus that has been taking place these past few days.
I am not signed up at Facebook, Twitter or Thread but I do read links and watch video.

... I'm sort of like you, I have a fake facebook page, fake name and info (I also have a facebook corral page the keeps facebook from watching me) and I follow no one and am followed by no one., no twitter, will not join Thread.

I read links and watch video and leave no trail.

He was just interviewed by Russell Bland where he said he had been looking for a buyer of Twitter because countries & corporations were making keeping Twitter solvent very difficult - too many demands about what could and could not be posted.

Because you don't feel the need for a social media platform? Or because both owners are rich?

Amazing how many progressives are willing to make use of a "money-grubbing, data-harvesting, progressive-bashing, fascist-promoting" communications system.

or Instagram, or any other personal data hogs with proven past records of serious malfeasance, and cheering them on to the rafters.

It's as if Cambridge Analytica, stretching from 2013 to 2018 and seriously compromising the politics of at least two major democracies, never happened!

Lots of whoops about Threads has gazillions of signups, maybe Meta learned its lesson from the CA affair and its slapped wrists and billion-dollar fines - well, yet another Facebook scandal in 2021 involved the theft and abuse of data from half a billion users!

Anyway, in a few weeks I can imagine seeing the same sorts of complaints here about Threads content that we've been seeing for so long about Twitter content.

Still, if any of it means Musk marginally improves on being such an absolute dickhead on a daily basis, it's no bad thing.

can't see any more of Twitter.

No replies are visible.

If you click on the Twitter user's name in that tweet, you'll see the profile but NO tweets - not even the one you just viewed.

If you click on the Search icon in the upper left corner, you no longer get the Explore page and a sampling of tweets from different users that used to show up there, till yesterday. You now get a 404 "this page doesn't exist" error.

If you click on the main link for any Twitter account, from anywhere off Twitter, you're redirected to the log-in page and don't even see that user's profile.

So less of Twitter is visible now than two days ago, if you aren't logged in.

Here's a tweet I posted yesterday about the upcoming film on Bob Marley, and I'll put the link to that account below it, so you can check for yourself.

The links you can find off Twitter to go to the main page for an account don't work:

https://twitter.com/JoeBiden

https://twitter.com/elonmusk

And you can't get around Twitter via links from any tweet linked to:

Try clicking on @santamonicacity there. Or the hashtag #Freedom. Both take you to the log-in page.

Btw, I found the link to that tweet via a Google search for

ted lieu twitter

and Google shows 5 tweets from him...but if you scroll over to Google's View on Twitter arrow and click on that, it doesn't take you to his account on Twitter, as it should, but to the Twitter log-in page.
