Gavin Newsom Dismantles Republican Governors In Less Than 1 Minute

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) tore into Republican governors over how their states have suffered under GOP leadership.

He started with a quick dismissal of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R).

“One of the worst crime and murder rates in America and one of the worst mental health records of any governor in America,” he told MSNBC’s Jen Psaki. “I’m not so convinced about the merits of his leadership.”

-snip-

“Eight of the top 10 murder states are Republican states,” he said. ”Seven of the top 10 dependent states ― God forbid, dependent states ― are red states.”

And he knows how to play the long game. My daughter and I have been following him since he was the mayor of San Francisco and our admiration has just grown over the years. Now he's working on a nationwide profile, while still being supportive of the current administration.

2028 perhaps? He's young enough, he doesn't have to hurry.

And yeah, Gavin looks like he'll be a good option.

I think there'll be a couple of good women running as well. I'm not a fan of one-party rule, even if it is Democratic, but we need to bury the current version of the repub party if we want to save the future. We need a good conservative voice in government. Right now, they ain't it. I want the trifecta in '24.

Though I think it will be some time before we have a good conservative voice in government again. This version of the republican party will probably have to die first.

Meanwhile, yes we need a trifecta in '24. We need Democratic rule for a while to undo so much of the damage that has been done over the past two decades or more. The need is for progressive change is urgent right now.

the word freaks RWers out completely to the point where their eyes roll back while their mouth starts foaming...............

spouting total hatred and name calling.

The GQP never will admit to facts and always blame others while playing victim.

Corporate media ignores what red states are doing to their constituents. People like Newsom is a breath of fresh air.

5th largest economy in the world.
i post stories on fb from time to time about dems doing things right. i tag them- file under- how the blue do it.
cali is a shining example of what you get for your tax dollars when they are well spent ON PEOPLE.

i’ll tell you something that gets overlooked a lot when talking about the economy- the value of universities and health care systems. 1 reason chicago wasnt detroit after 08 (besides the billion in the rainy day fund thanks to the parking meter deal.) is our uni and hospital sector. it’s a huge part of the economy cuz so many are good jobs.
we jumped on the aca, too, w cook co getting permission to set up a free hmo a year ahead of the planned roll out for that.
and it’s an enormous benefit to the health of the ppl, the city, and to our productivity.
the same can be said of cali.

silicon valley didnt just happen. it grew out of the university system.

amazing what happens when you invest in your ppl instead of trying to keep them in the back water.

I would expect him to announce it in early 2027.

Newsom/Whitmer. Now that’s a ticket I could vote for.
