America's most dangerous enemy is the Republican Party
Many here on Democratic Underground have known this for a long time. Some have more recently come to understand this. And others still believe that Republicans are nothing more than our political opponents who only needs to be beaten at the ballot box.
(Before going any further, let me say this. VOTE. Vote like your life depends on it. Because it does.)
Having said that, you must understand that voting isn't enough. If you use an absentee ballot, follow up, and make sure it was received and counted. If you were denied the right to vote for any reason at all, call your local (Dem) congressperson, and/or your local (liberal leaning) newspaper, and tell them what happened. (Also, call the ACLU and The Southern Poverty Law Center, who will document your complaint and perhaps even use their resources to help you.)
But here's my main point. The Republican Party is unAmerican. They don't care about the rules, the laws, the Constitution, or anything else that gets in the way of their seizing total control of our government and our freedoms. In short, they are America's fascist party. And if most people don't recognize that, then who's going to save our democracy?
And what's even worse, the vast majority of Republican voters don't understand that they're being manipulated by their own biases and emotions. They don't grasp that those who would own the world are using fear, jealousy, hatred, "religion," and so much more to gain their votes and put them in power. And they don't understand that they're voting against their own freedoms, their own individuality, and their own right to exist.
You've undoubtedly heard all of this before. Yet, turn on your TV, your phone, your computer, your car radio, and you don't hear any "Emergency Alert" that America, our Constitution, and all of our freedoms are under attack.
At this moment, Democrats control the Senate and the Presidency. The powers inherent in those two institutions must be used to the maximum. And it must be used now. The Republicans are in full win/steal the 2024 elections mode, so if we are going to seriously oppose their total takeover of America, we've got to do it now.
Some here may think I'm an alarmist. Try reevaluating that belief if you find yourself in a "reeducation camp," or worse.
