Because if he and his other traitorous trash want to insert their delusion into public schools, then the government gets to insert reality into their churches.

Hope you enjoy having your membership whittle to near-nothingness after a few classes on evolution and big bang theory.

There are plenty of schools available that allow the bible to be taught.

Stay away from public schools. It won’t have the effect that you think it will!

Have you received positive feedback on that proposition from Hindu, Muslim, Atheist families? Not to mention the Christian families who don't want their practice of religion tangled up with the state because they know what that inevitably leads to, and it's not good.

Compare and contrast it to other old religious texts like the Koran, the Rig-Veda, the Zend-Avesta and the Bhagavad-Gita (there are many others). Add some of the texts that didn't make it into the Bible, like the Apocrypha and the Pseudepigrapha, then throw in the Book of Mormon. I'd have no problem with including the Bible in a comparative religion course, where students could discover that evangelical Christianity isn't the only game in town - but that would never fly in Oklahoma.

Now, if you want to teach the ethics of the Bible, then teach their commonality with other religious texts.

The Golden Rule and the Sermon on the Mount aren't singular thoughts no one else ever had.

21. I Hate These Guys

Jul 2023

I'm a fairly friendly person. I don't say "I Hate You" much. But I really hate these guys. They want to turn America into a Christo-Fascist Theocracy. Totally against what the founding fathers intended. Freedom of Religion must also mean Freedom FROM religion. If you want the Bible in your schools, kids can bring one in their book bag. No law against that. I googled "Small Travel Bible for Sale" and found the KJV Economy New Testament and Psalms for $2.00 online. It's 2 3/4" by 4 1/2". Have at it.

As for religion in school. Which one? I've read there are over 4,000 different religions in the world. In America another article I read said there are SEVEN main religions in America. Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and unaffiliated including atheists and agnostics. But each of those have offshoots. Christianity encompasses everything from Pentecostal to Catholic to Mormonism to Southern Baptist to Protestant to Methodist to others. We all know they sure don't agree on much.

As for the Bible in school. Which one? Over the centuries it has been rewritten, translated, reinterpreted, revised and updated. We also must remember it was written by MEN not God or Jesus or the Holy Ghost. It has contradictions in different books and passages. How do you explain those to kids? After all... if you're going to "teach" the Bible to school kids you need to teach them EVERYTHING. If not you're just a hypocrite... oh wait, you ARE a Repubqcan.

"Children, we have a special guest with us today, Superintendent of Public Education Ryan Walters. He wants to sit in on our Bible study. Please turn to 1 Samuel 18. Now why do you think King Saul made David kill 100 Philistines and cut their dicks off?"

"Ms. Jones, it was so David could marry Michal."

"Do you think there was another reason?"

"Yes, ma'am. King Saul didn't like David very much and wanted him to get killed."

"And why would he have been killed?"

"Because no one wants his dick cut off for no reason."

"Exactly right. He thought someone would kill David before David could cut his dick off."

"Dammit, quit teaching such filth!"

"Superintendent Walters, I'm just teaching what's in the Bible. Read it yourself!"

(Walters reads the Scripture.)

"Damn...it does say that, doesn't it? No no, teach a nice part of the Bible."

"Okay, fine. Turn to Judges 15.16. In this passage Samson bragged about killing a thousand men with the jawbone of an ass. Where would he get the jawbone of an ass?"

"From a Republican superintendent of public instruction?"

"Yeah, pretty much."

Where Lot's daughters get tired of being locked away with no chance of marriage, so they ply their drunkard father with alcohol and hump him to have kids by him.

Or Ezekiel 23:20 with the part about lovers with wangs the size of donkeys.

Or, well, any part of Song of Solomon.

Or, if you want to scare the crap out of the little sprogs, read them 2 Kings 2:23-25, where a bear mauls 42 kids to death for making fun of a bald guy.

And that's only touching the surface of the obscenity that is the big book of bad ideas.

Let's see...

God whacks Uzzah for keeping the Ark of the Covenant from falling out of an ox cart.

God whacks Onan for refusing to impregnate his dead brother's wife so she could say the kid was his dead brother's.

Solomon threatening to settle a custody dispute by cutting a baby in half.

The very precise instructions for performing an abortion.

"Thou shalt not kill" in the same book that's full of story ideas for slasher flicks.

And then...Genesis 22. Oh. My. Word. "Then God said, 'take your son, your only son, whom you love - Isaac - and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there are a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you." WHAT KIND OF INSANE FUCKING SHIT IS THIS?

Well, it does tend to create atheists. Lots of them.
