Michigan Salon Owner Refuses to Serve LGBTQ+ Community Because of ‘Pedophiles’

She says because she believes that the “+” indicates “pedophiles,” she’s refusing to serve the “TQ+” community.

Some members of the LGBTQ+ community have been banned from a hair salon in Michigan in a breathtaking display of ignorance and bigotry.

The owner of Studio 8 Hair Lab, Christine Geiger, said in a Facebook post that she is exercising her right to free speech by refusing specific customers her services. She also compared gender-diverse people to animals, the Kansas City Starreports.

“If a human identifies as anything other than a man/woman, please seek services at a local pet groomer,” urged the hair salon owner. “You are not welcome at this salon. Period.”

The salon’s Facebook page was later deleted, and its Instagram profile was set to private. A description of the business on Instagram says it is “A private CONSERVATIVE business that does not cater to woke ideologies.”...................

Unless she's willing to have her entire clientele be church ladies.

Her comments about not wanting to serve anyone but "normal" people seems like a poor business plan for a hair salon. Is she unwilling to color clients' hair? Unwilling to give them cuts that don't look "normal"?

Who is she going to get to work there? Even if she bans all gay people, what about stylists with tattoos and brightly colored hair?

They could require it to "protect children". So gay people would know if they bring their kids in they could be exposed to hate. After all we have to protect the kids right?

An entire denomination, where 700 cases reach into the upper levels of the prominent, prestigious and those who control the Southern Baptists with their money and influence.

So is she going to turn away fundamentalist and conservative Christians?

This is straight up discrimination against a group of people based on their identity. Surely the conservatives won't support this behavior, will they? Oh yeah, of course they will.

famous over...what? Shit they see on the news or social media? Has she ever even personally dealt with the groups of people she's discriminating against? It's just like the Jan 6 losers or Patriot Front cosplayers--they so badly want attention and to be the main characters in a drama. So much so that they're willing to throw job/money or even a business away. It's fucking sad. Their lives have such little meaning.

Salon decided to make a nobody famous, mostly for outrage-driven clicks.

She's wrong--freedom of speech won't protect her ass from a lawsuit unless she is asked to design a hairstyle that somehow creatively expresses the message "gay" or "trans". Given hair styles these days, hard to pick any that's that unambiguously that strongly gendered.

Maybe she hopes the Christian Right will rally around her and boost her business, and maybe that will happen. But having to delete or hide your social media pages isn't a good start. And now it seems she might have run afoul of state anti-discrimination laws. Not looking like a good gamble so far, just to vent her spleen.
