(10,860 posts)Astounding that the POTUS that basically destroyed unions in America (Reagan) was President of the SAG union.

(24,906 posts)so lets assume they all did belong to the same union. What I'm wondering is people's opinions on what would happen? What would fill the void? Would people revert to reading newspapers? Look at YouTube channels?

(2,256 posts)I personally gave up TV several years ago and have stayed informed via the internet, so IMO most folks would rely on the internet and social media. Using various websites is much more time efficient than staring at a television set.

(102,778 posts)I was wondering how people are doing without the late night guys and a whole bunch of daily things we don't have anymore. Now the rest of teevee is going away, the news folks would be next (in your hypothetical) and that would push those of us who are news junkies to seek out information, it would be mayhem.

(37,651 posts)Saving $1,000.00 per year. Back in the 90sI got rid of my tv for 4 years. With all that extra time, I started a business, went and finished college all while keeping my full time job.

(24,906 posts)There being no broadcast channels available here, I finally got cable. In the 70s and 80s In had a small 13" black and white TV which I seldom watched. I was single and out and about a lot in Silican Valley. Retired now, and a big news hound.
