weakening tropical storm likely to hit hawaiian islands wednesday....

TS Calvin will move over or south of the big island tuesday night and wednesday. primary effect will be heavy rain tho strong wind gusts are possible in terrain. other islands may experience local flooding and gusty winds as well.
storm started in near mexico warm water and moved west. there is a pool of cooler water east of the islands that weakens storms plus high altitude westerlies that cut the tops off of storms. these two effects have knocked the storm down in to weak TS shape tho warmer waters near hawaii may keep the juices flowing a bit

I was wondering if it would blow itself out before it got there.

It did get pretty intense for a about 30 hours or so. Could be worse than a regular rain storm but not nearly as bad as it looked yesterday. Take care.
