https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/bullhorn-lady-capitol-found-guilty-jan-6-case-rcna94733WASHINGTON A Pennsylvania mother who was known as "Bullhorn Lady" because she used the sound amplifier to instruct rioters at the Capitol was convicted Tuesday of nine federal counts.
Rachel Powell was found guilty on a variety of charges, including felony charges of interfering with officers performing their duties and obstruction of an official proceeding. Powell's bench trial was held in May, and U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth delivered the verdict on Tuesday. Powell was accompanied to court by her children, one of whom was wearing a red "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" hat in the courtroom. Powell had posted on social media that Trump had gifted a MAGA hat to her child.
Powell's identity was discovered by online "Sedition Hunters" who have since identified hundreds of additional Capitol rioters, and her identity was publicly revealed in a Feb. 2021 story in The New Yorker. Powell, who was also known as "Pink Hat Lady," was arrested days later.
In one video, as rioters entered a conference room on the west side of the Capitol, Powell gave a description of the layout of an adjourning room, and says they should coordinate together if you are going to take this building. Her comments initially led investigators to think that the woman had some kind of insider knowledge of the Capitol building.

(1,654 posts)I grew up in Allegheny county but now live in another state, and it hurt my heart to hear some of the remarks made at the reunion. Held my tongue because it's family and I wasn't going to be there long, but the denseness hurts. Only heartened by the look from others giving the "what can we do?" And this year one of my cousins was still on the horror of windmills killing the birds.

(4,997 posts)As you alluded, many people are rational thinkers like you and I, and we mostly choose to hold our tongues when in the company of someone spouting RW nonsense.

(4,997 posts)Years ago, I would walk the Glacier Ridge Trail along the North Shore of Lake Arthur. Of course, there are more hills in the northern, eastern and central parts of the county than there are in the southwestern part where Cranberry Township is located. I enjoy small town living here in Western PA. The rural lifestyle is too demanding for me. Best wishes.

(114 posts)In conspiracy and planning the assault? I had been looking for follow up on her and several others for a while now.
I have been hoping that she and several others did not escape the scrutiny of J6 and Mr. Smith.

I also assume there's absolutely NO chance that she escaped the scrutiny of those charged with investigating and prosecuting.

And they'll fight you if you point it out. It's a big part of human nature I know, but it can be frustrating.
We need a good shrug emoji.

My fav emoji is so versatile it can mean, "Thanks for the help, "Glad to help", or "One good tip deserves another" I suspect I like 'cause I'm retired and Lazee.

(8,387 posts)The MAGA hat is the traditional head covering of his people.
ExWhoDoesntCare
(4,741 posts)It wasn't so long ago that women were all but required to wear head coverings when in public, especially in such places as courthouses, churches, and assorted "respectable" establishments. My mother is still mad at the restaurant that turned her away in the late 50s because she wasn't wearing a hat.
These days, men wearing hats indoors isn't as frowned upon as it used to be. Plenty of them have conditions like cancer, head injuries, and etc, that make a head covering more acceptable. I'm certainly not going to tell a guy who's going through chemo that he can't wear a hat inside, and I won't ask if that's why he has it on. So I always err on the side of compassion when I see a guy wearing a hat indoors. Certainly doesn't hurt me any to do that.

(4,741 posts)But I wouldn't object to some federal offenses carrying a penalty of loss of voting rights. Some of them could even merit a permanent loss. Seditious conspiracy and interfering with government work would definitely qualify.
