Monmouth: Biden leads Trump even with Manchin running as independent

Pundits have been predicting a Democratic debacle if DINO Manchin run as independent. But they seem to underestimating the fact that Manchin is more Trump-like than Biden like:

Need to see how this shakes out by state as we get closer. I'm optimistic but taking nothing for granted.

Something is funny in those numbers. No way is Manchin drawing black, youth, or the woman vote. He is not pro woman. He is not minority. He is not pro youth.

No way tfg is either. And they would have to.

It too early, it’s only 900 respondents (likely MOE +/- 5-7% for each candidate )and it doesn’t account for the fact that Biden won the EC by 44,000 votes in three states.

Manchin could easily peel off 44,000 votes in those swing states with his 16%

16 percent is very optimistic. Usually once someone is clearly going to lose, independents don't break for him, but run away from him. Add to that, Manchin is a flavorless nobody with a message of mythical bipartisanship that no one wants and often just means do what the GOP want.
