Why shouldn’t defense get one? The judge probably should have turned down jack smith and trump and hold the trial next month as originally scheduled.

One can almost see the Chris Crispy Volunteers going hand-to-hand with the Kyle Rittenhouse Army — a fecal toss covered most fairly by AI journalist logarithms, right.

I always thought that an April/May trial would be perfect. That gives the Republicans enough time to nominate him, and if he’s found guilty, not enough time to get a replacement.
This leaves Biden with virtually the entire stage to talk agendas while all the Republicans will be talking about is the “witch hunt.”
If the trial had been any earlier, it would have blown over by then, or given an alternate candidate too much time.
I see this as really good news for Biden.

A convicted felon at the head of your ticket is disaster and this wouldn't give the GOP enough time to replace him. Also gives Trump plenty of time to damage DeSantis.

If this were the only trial, I might be concerned, but there will be at least 3 others too.

It's BS, but it could be worse.

And here's the thing, his New York trial is in March of 2024. The DC charges about to drop could then be fit in in April of 2024 or sooner, maybe even February of 2024. Georgia will have time to indict and fit a date in during the first half of 2024 too.

But I don’t see how this delay does drumpf and favors. Now it’s right in the middle of the heart of his campaign season. Other than just keeping him out of prison for 5 more months this doesn’t benefit him.

My sense of fairness is outraged. SC Smith presented reasonable arguments why the trial could start in December. Trump's side made up some irrelevant gobbledygook about presidential elections. I could see setting a January or February trial date as a slightly less aggressive reading of the situation than Smith's or as a "Thanks for playing!" to Trump, but an additional six months on top of the four month delay the prosecutor wanted? That is not fairness to the people of the United States (as in, "The People of the United States v. ...&quot .

The prosecutor knows his case and should be prepared or wait to do the charges.

The prosecution knows its case and has had a very long time to put gather evidence and put it together. The defense has not had that opportunity. The discovery in this case is, as Cannon noted, voluminous. Thus, the defense is entitled to sufficient time to review the discovery and for various evidentiary and other pre-trial motions to be filed.

You may be outraged, but the reality is that this isn't an overly drawn out schedule.

You want an example? Rep. William Jefferson. The FBI began its corruption investigation in mid-2005. His office was searched in May 2006. An indictment was handed down in June 2007. The trial originally was set for December 2008. After a series of continuances, the trial commenced in June 2009 -- two years after the indictment.

There are other examples.
