The rules Tubberville is abusing can be changed by a majority vote in the senate. All that takes is 50 dems, plus harris. We have 51 dems.
So clearly Tubberville is not the issue here, though he is certainly the cause. Sure, he could just stop being an ass and nominations and promotions could proceed. But he won't stop.
The rules can change, but he has the support of 50 other senators. (at least).
Think about that. Some of those 50 have a (D) next to their name.

(17,802 posts)The dems are not the cause, but they are a solution. If they refuse to act, they are the problem.
I wouldn't blame a fire department for a fire that was started by someone else, but I would blame them if they stood by and refused to put it out. So blame the fire department for the fire? sure.

(17,802 posts)If we are willing to attack the repubs, we should be willing to solve the problem. Heck, they can put a time limit on it if they really want to make it temporary. Until the next election.
We need to get shite done. We can't be held hostage by a radical nonesense spewing hate brigade.
I could understand if it were ratioal dialogue with reasonable positions. This aint that.

(17,802 posts)The senate rules have been fluid since it was first established. Even the fabled filibuster has not been a monolith since it was established.
Rules change to adapt to circumstances and the senate survives because of it, not in spite of it.
The quickest way to kill the senate is to freeze it in place.
