If the states that want to secede were to go, we'd need to make sure

that the pro-union "blue" areas of those states(including every large city in each of them, for example) could stay in THIS country. We have the precedent of the creation of West Virginia during the Civil War to back that up.

Plenty of red states they can migrate into....any group that thinks it can ban climate change/sea level rise don't deserve nice things, anyway!

Maybe that's what we should do.

Keep the nice parts of the state in the Union, let the crappy parts form their own disjointed country.

Let's see...

No regulations on corporations, so adios clean air/water/safe medications/food inspections.

No social safety net, so - buh bye Social Security retirement/disability, Medicare, Medicaid, health care reform benefits, school lunch programs, manageable class room sizes, food stamps, reimbursement to hospitals for those without health care.

No corporate taxes.

No taxes on the wealthy apparently, because we don't want to uh, discourage them.

No minimum wage, not to mention a living wage.

No child labor laws.

No 40 hour work week.

No building or safety requirements and regulations.

No federal funds for infrastructure.

... and so on.

If it weren't for progressives who live among the loons, I'd say let them go. We'd see their states turn into ghost towns, and the fools will come to realize why we need an effective government.
