A big thank you to Occupy Wall Street.

Okay, OWS kinda lost its way, as time went on and some strange people got involved. Still, it has been a remarkable movement that galvanized many liberals into "right" thinking and action.

It is because of the 99% OWS movement that "1%" and "99%" is now part of American jargon. When you say "the 1%," everyone knows what you mean.

The strength and the hudspa and the resolve of the ordinary person. We are NOT nothing because we're not part of the 1%. We get a vote, we get a say, we deserve a fair shot at the American dream, we are not deadbeats and scumbags and maggots and whores and pimps. We are the engine of the country and worthwhile listening to.

So a big thank you to OWS. You made a difference. And that's not an easy thing to do.

(Update: It has been pointed out to me that OWS CONTINUES to make a difference. My "was" has been changed to "has".)

wasn't sure they'd continue to make a difference.

I heard they helped Sandy victims, but I haven't read a report on it or seen it in the news. I'm just unaware of the current activities of OWS, or even really if it still exists.

Occupy Wall Street Activists Buy up Debt to Abolish It
Allison Kilkenny on November 12, 2012 - 9:25 AM ET

Strike Debt, a movement formed by a coalition of Occupy Wall Street groups looking to build a popular resistance to debt, plans to hold a telethon and variety show November 15 in support of the Rolling Jubilee, a system to buy debt for pennies on the dollar, and abolish it.

The telethon, which has already sold out, will feature artists including Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel, Lee Renaldo of Sonic Youth, Guy Picciotto of Fugazi, Tunde Adebimpe of TV on the Radio, plus other surprise guests. ..........(more)

There's a group dedicated to Occupy at DU: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1252

Great source of Occupy news from social media, as the activities are mostly under the Corporate Media radar. Together with Occupy Sandy and Strike Debt Occupy Our Homes is the most visible and effective field of action. Occupy activists are active also unionizing, supporting strikes, etc. etc. etc.

It's been just the beginning...

They showed people can come together and affect change. They are helping Hurricane Sandy victims now, and people struggling with evictions. Thank you! OWS!

The Establishment tried to slander you, they tried to print lies about you, and they even tried to destroy you from without and within. But you stood strong. You didn't let the fascists, the Teabaggers and the Beckians define you, to defile you. You made yourselves known to the world. You made a contribution to world society. And we'd like to thank you for all you've done.
