it beat Oppenheimer. The far right nutjobs are probably crying in their moms' basements, or shooting Barbie dolls with their AR-15s.

I have absolutely no problem with people seeing Barbie, but this is not some zero-sum game of partisan viewing.

I would hope that a nuanced look at the dawning of the atomic age would hold some interest outside of basements.

Barbie's numbers owe much more to the nostalgia and Barbie brand than any attempt to combat fascism or sign up for their "woke" card.

Sure, it's been co-opted by both sides because what isn't these days?

Here's the real "magic-formula":

'Barbie' reportedly had a $150 million marketing budget — more than the movie's actual budget

Barbie seems like good summer fun, but I wouldn't go mapping the attendance to Dem votes.

With stuff like this and the superhero movies dominating current cinema, it's quite clear that the famous bible verse "When I became a man, I put away childish things" is no longer nearly as operative in current society as it once was.

Btw, Barbie isn’t a so-called shallow movie but even if it was, who gives a shit? Newsflash: Movies are entertainment! There’s plenty of serious movies out there that may meet your high standards.

When the GOP loves a thing the free market hates, the call it cancel culture.

The GOP has a record of whipping out tidy, ten-second excuses for their failures.
