Hunger in schools is a huge predictor of poor school performance. My SIL teaches at a rural (ish) school in West Michigan, not the type of area you'd associate with hunger, but kids come in hungry and poorly clothed every day, and not just poor kids. Getting nutrituous food into their bellies gives them a chance to have a prodeuctive day at school each day.

Schools have already had breakfast available for years. Just show up before class starts and there's breakfast in the cafeteria. Nothing changes.

This is great really, and it's not going to just help poor kids, there are plenty of kids who aren't poor at all whose parents send them to school hungry and without a way to eat. Ensuring healthy meals twice a day will improve school performance for everyone.

When I was in school, it didn't seem like we got there much before classs started.

Went to a inner city school for a few years that had cross district bussing for integration, so we were on the bus quite a long period of time every morning.

Vote for the party that wants to give your kids free lunch vs the party that doesn’t care if your kids come home in a body bag. I know which one I’d choose!

Democrats: Want your kids to get a proper education

Republicans: Want to ban books because there might be icky porn / gender stuff (because our church only says that two sexes exist), and mess with your child's cirruculum because god told them to, and god forbid anyone has an independent thought not manufactured by Rupert Murdoch.

Every state could do this. The return on investment would be huge.

Go, Michigan.

In Michigan we turned the State House blue and now kids have food to eat, women control their bodies, LGBTQ have protections… etc etc

Blue states get it done!!!

Whitmer has attracted a ton of manufacturing business to Michigan. The Democratic Party is hitting it out of the park here since getting full control.

And the damned roads are getting fixed!
