My state is NOT one of those, but I think 26 states ARE. Wouldnt it be a good thing for 10s of thousands of Dems to vote in the GOP primary to try to knock trump off the top?
I just want him GONE in the fastest way possible.
What do you guys think?

(8,747 posts)screwing around with the primary system is never that effective. On top of this, you will end up on republican lists for subsequent elections if you vote in their primary. Finally, its very unlikely Trump would be knocked off the top. He is going to win every primary overwhelmingly.

(5,545 posts)who divides Republicans and unites and energizes Democratic voters as well as some in the middle. Many of the Republican elite have been trying to dump Trump since before he was first nominated in 2015, either because they have some allegiance to the country left and know that putting an authoritarian in charge is toxic to democracy, or because they consider a boor who says the quiet part out loud a declassé image for their party.

(13,538 posts)No, I dont like DeSantis either, but DeSantis has fans. Trump has a cult. And a cult is a lot more dangerous. Not to mention, a 2nd trump term will be ALL about revenge & ego; which makes him even more dangerous.
I dont think DeSantis would give away the country just because a dictator throws him a parade.
I mean, maybe I'm wrong. I hope I am. I just think trump needs to be excised from society forever. And JR wouldnt be able to take his place either, I dont think. Its DONALD TRUMP that is their drug.

(14,719 posts)since I live in S.C. But, I am the center of the political universe during primaries.
I have on two occasions voted in the R primary, both times because there were real races for who was going to be the R candidate (and eventual winner) in the Governors race.
But I will vote for Biden in the primary to remind the other side that there are Democrats here, and to lessen their snark about Moonbeam Williamson and insane Kennedy getting a few percent of the protest vote.

(53,544 posts)I believe also that in Republican primaries it is winner takes all. So if Trump gets those 24 states. The remaining 26 states can't be split with opponents. Not knowing which are those 24 states it may result in them being enough to get the necessary delegates.

(8,904 posts)If I was questioned I could say I considered Mike Pence a favorite son candidate, and a hero for continuing with his Govt. Duties while under assault on Jan. 6.
I know. I just threw up a little in my mouth.
Haha.
I do think we could all justify a Pence vote since he carried on on Jan. 6.
