Washington — Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik has turned over thousands of pages of records to special counsel Jack Smith as part of the federal investigation into efforts to stop the transfer of presidential power after the 2020 election, sources familiar with the matter confirmed to CBS News.

The documents were submitted to Smith on Sunday. A source close to Kerik's legal team said they believe the records, which include sworn affidavits from people raising concerns about the integrity of the 2020 presidential contest, show there was a genuine effort to investigate claims of voter fraud in the last election.

Rudy Giuliani Admits False Statements About Georgia Election Workers

Former Donald Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani has admitted to making false statements regarding election workers the former president claimed had tampered with ballots in the 2020 presidential election count in Georgia.

Giuliani did not contest that "to the extent that the statements were statements of fact and otherwise actionable, such actionable factual statements were false."

The statement by the Republican lawyer came as part of a defamation lawsuit brought by Ruby Freeman and Wandrea "Shaye" Moss, who alleged that they had faced harassment after Giuliani and Trump claimed they had counted extra votes.

These documents support the notion that their election doubts were genuine, in their minds.

They contain zero evidence and they knew they did not contain any evidence. If they did or they thought they did, they would have tried to use them in court and they did not even try to do so.

They DID investigate the claims. They found nothing.
Therefore, the pursued the plan to prevent the transfer of power knowing there was no cause beyond their own desire to retain power.
If I'm reading it right, it's good for the prosecution because the perps would have known they were planning to violate the law.

But I think it’s a bit of stretch to say Kerik is “working with” DOJ.

We shall see if an actual cooperation/plea deal emerges, but things are far too nebulous at this point.

He is just as much a slime-ball as ghouliani and the other 'legal' parasites. But kerik is probably a bit smarter than most of them.

I can just see Kerik and his lawyer sitting at a wooden table and Jack Smiths team sitting across
from them with Jack Smith in the background. So, what do you have for us Mr. Kerik?
