Can a straight woman be in love with Rachel Maddow?

My friends and I were having this discussion last night. We're all straight, with guys. But some of us were like, "She's really cute." The others said that they'd go out with her brother.

I'll admit there was a bottle of Clos du Bois involved.

I must admit, looks do matter. I size attractive men up all the time, not because I have feeling for them, but because they are competition for potential female mates. Maybe you're having some strange projection thing with Rachel, you like her features and may be projecting those into future children. You aren't strange, I do that sometimes, so do many other sane people that I know.

Your explanation is actually pretty interesting. I do like her features. A friend of mine last night was saying that her features would be cuter on a guy, but I was actually not thinking that. It just hit me oddly and it wasn't just the vino. Usually when I look at women to size them up as competition, I'm looking at how much hotter they are than I am and feeling pretty miserable. I'm not looking at Rachel that way at all. That's why it got my attention.

due to bad Rose wines produced here that were too sweet. The Rosato of Italy and the Rosado of Spain, as well as the famous Rose of France, are beautiful.

Americans have got to get over their distaste for Rose wine. It is wonderful. Try the European varieties if you don't like the American ones.

the ability to discuss with someone, learn from someone has always been very appealing and arousing.

I used to date a conservative (long ago when they were reasonable people) and love to listen to him try and change my opinions. He didn't but I did have to think about the things he said a lot to see the fallacy.

Love the humor in many of the replies to the OP. Does anyone who has the fortitude to visit the big RW sites EVER see any humor there? My impression is that all they do is whine, bitch and insult the non-believers. The next four years will be hell for them and they richly (no pun) deserve it! BTW, I think Rachel is very very desirable, especially with her intelligence, much less her overall attractiveness. And I'm a 75-yr-old white geezer!

I had not seen a good friend of mine from high high school and college in awhile and she was suppose to attend my wedding in a few weeks. She called and and said she was in the area and let's hook up for dinner before the wedding . Sounded great to me.

Well she came out to me that day and and told me she had feelings for me a long time She came to accept it wasn't going to happen and I was into men (my kryptonite) but she couldn't attend my wedding I have never seen or heard from her since and I have tried contacting her. I loved her but couldn't be in love with her. She was one of my best friends
