The Petraeus affair is probably the least important part of it but since its the tip of the iceberg so to speak, its the start in trying to unravel what's happening below the surface.

I think this has less to do with sex, and more to do with either money or spying, particularly in regard to Kelley. She and her sister are deeply in debt, yet still somehow manage to keep their mansions. They and their families are knee deep in intelligence community/foreign relations contacts.
