The word entitled is in the original SS law 9 times

Please DUers, lets not become unhinged, and let these ignorant posts go unrebutted.

Its really important to the legal foundation of the Social Security law that it is an insurance program, you pay your insurance premiums and you get coverage.

You might think- like that other OP says, its benefits....

Oh really, like Welfare benefits? We all know how the GOP loves demonizes welfare queens. Dont let this GOP attempt to redefine what the very legal foundation for Social Security is.

The other OPs are either misguided or from GOP sockpuppets. They should be deleted, or locked.

The word entitled is in the original SS law 9 times, read it and Weep conservatives.

when used by the republicans has as much to do with what we are entitled to as "pro-life" means republicans care about the living. It is not the word but the sentiment of the person using it.

It's late and I like to consider myself a thinking person but for the life of me can't figure out the shoes I should be putting myself in here. The republican's? A thinking person's? It's all going over my head at the moment.

Exactly right. It's an entitlement because you are entitled to the benefit for which OASDI indemnifies you.

You are quite right. The "it's not an entitlement" thing is an embarrassment and, as is so often the case when someone is wildly wrong, they are downright abusive in promulgating their erroneous view.

I tried arguing with one or two of them, but it wasn't going anywhere.

demonizing it as the right does Welfare Queens.

Legally there is a distinction between entitled and benefits. And as long as SS is kept on a sound legal foundation, there is no getting at all the money in the trust fund that many in the far right really want.
