Trump says he’ll run for president from jail if convicted on any of his various indictments
https://news.yahoo.com/trump-says-ll-run-president-164614583.html

Donald Trump said on Friday that he would run for president from prison in 2024 if he is convicted on any of the number of criminal charges he faces.

The former president and current Republican frontrunner made the comments during a radio interview with conservative host John Fredericks. During the exchange, Mr Trump denied new charges brought against him by federal prosecutors claiming that he instructed employees at his Mar-a-Lago resort to destroy security recordings.

he can never serve as I sense his sentence in prison will take the lead and thus never be able to leave jail with a 20 year sentence. Apparently he would want to Pardon himself....I don't think that is permitted.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/can-a-president-pardon-himself/

"The big unanswered question is whether the president might be able to pardon himself," Jeffrey Crouch, an assistant professor of American politics at American University and an expert on executive clemency. "No president has ever tried it, so we don't know what the result would be if it was attempted."

The Constitution gives the president broad power to pardon federal crimes, except in cases involving impeachment. The president also can't pardon state offenses. Apart from that, in explicit terms, the Constitution is quiet. And history and precedent don't offer significant insight, says Harvard constitutional scholar Mark Tushnet.

"The arguments about whether a president can pardon himself are not only unsettled in the sense that they haven't come up before, but they're also unsettled in the sense that reasonable lawyers could look at the materials and say either result is legally defensible," Tushnet said.

If they include seditious conspiracy, he might not be eligible to hold the office under the 14th Amendment.

Putting aside the fact that a conviction disqualifies him and true red MAGA's will write him in and waste their vote.
Being in jail means no rallies, no fund raising events and no debts.

As usual, talking without thinking.

of multiple serious crimes -- plus GOP taken over by RW religious white male nationalist extremists -- results in not just loss of the presidency and both congressional chambers, but control of a number of state governments.

They're really worried -- for really good reason.

30. His resemblance to Zaphod Beeblebrox increases
Mon Jul 31, 2023, 07:44 AM

Zaphod Beeblebrox’s full title was President of the Imperial Galactic Government. The term Imperial is kept, though it is now an anachronism. The hereditary emperor is now nearly dead - and has been for many centuries. This is because in his last dying moments he was - much to his imperial irritation - locked in a perpetual stasis field. All his heirs are now, of course, long dead and the upshot of all this is that without any drastic upheaval political power has simply and effectively moved a rung or two down the ladder, and is now seemed to be vested in an elected governmental assembly, headed by a president elected by that assembly. In fact, it vests in no such place - that would be too easy. The president’s job - and if someone sufficiently vain and stupid is picked he won’t realise this - is not to wield power, but to draw attention away from it. Zaphod Beeblebrox, the only man in history to have made presidential telecasts from the bath, from Eccentrica Gallumbits bedroom, from the maximum-security wing of the Betelgeuse State Prison, or from where ever else he happened to be at the time, was supremely good at this job.

For Eccentrica Gallumbits, read 'Stormy Daniels'. He may not have broadcast from the bath yet, but his tweets from the toilet/classified document storage facility are pretty much the same thing.
