"Truly stunning": Republican admits hyped Biden witness "didn't know anything" about alleged bribe

https://news.yahoo.com/truly-stunning-republican-admits-hyped-124853436.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall

"
Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., acknowledged that the Republicans' widely-hyped witness in their probe of the Biden family's business dealings "didn't know anything" about unverified allegations that President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden had accepted millions in bribes.

House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., and fellow Republicans had hyped a closed-door session with former Hunter Biden business partner Devon Archer as part of their growing Biden probe that has yielded no actual proof."

Their hearings (Comer and Jordan) are a joke. They know it but it’s for Fox and talk radio and then piling on the rest of the media to cover it.

The GOP puts out lies and their base accepts it as gospel. We'll be hearing about how "Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden had accepted millions in bribes" for months if not longer.

Even though Stop the Steal, many Fox conspiracies, and other right wing BS have been thoroughly debunked much of the MAGA cult continues to believe and repeat them because their identity is so bound up with them. It's harming our democracy.

I took the time to look them over and have others look them over. Clean as could be.

If you look at the net worth of members of Congress over the last 50 years, Joe Biden was at or near the bottom his entire career. For example, look at how Mitch McConnell did, who has been there just about as long. Look at the $3 billion Jared & Ivanka got from the Middle East.

The only windfall Biden ever saw looking back years on his tax returns was the multiple book deal he did with Jill - which was smaller than many and speaking engagements after he left the Obama White House.

When Joe's son Beau was dying of cancer, Joe was trying to mortgage his house to pay for the treatments. Barack wanted to loan him the money.

This is a GOP smear campaign to damage one of the most honest men who has been in Congress over the last 50 years. Even the GOP know it.

It is like Hillary and her emails or Benghazi. Damage the candidate with bullshit. It is disgusting.
Once again, the great arbiter for democracy: the media is letting us down. These dishonest GOP assholes should be tarred and feathered.

And therein lies the biggest problem with our democracy at this point in time. 24/7 news cycles on all of our different devices. TV's in public places such as airports spewing propaganda. It's insidious and harmful to democracy.

A not insignificant amount of the electorate actually accept and believe the bullshit.

Whether we like it or not, people have a "vague notion" that Joe Biden is crooked. They can't really point to anything, but there is this "feeling", I don't know why...

Same thing with Hillary. While she wasn't my favorite politician, you absolutely CANNOT deny that she was intelligent, compassionate, and well suited for leadership. Yet, there was a sense that she was "unlikeable", that she was corrupt, etc...

We know that she held her own and even schooled the clowns during the Benghazi hearings. The problem is that while she was completely exonerated and the hearings were a farce, they still brought a vague perception that "something was wrong" and that she had something to do with it. Hillary was rightfully and validly guarded and protective. She was the subject of a 30+ year smear campaign and unfortunately, it worked, at least in so much that it allowed enough wiggle room for Trump and the GOP to "dirty trick" their way into power in 2016.

That is their goal here. Try to dirty up Joe Biden. They rely on the complicity of the media in reporting the "smoke" without commenting on how stupid, dishonest, and absurd the whole process and premise is.

Are they given instructions by their superiors?

Don't get me wrong, I know it's done and whatever the process, we know what the result is. I just wish one of them would, when they retire for instance, break ranks and tell us.

When you grow up with a Conservative political ideology, you are taught that your way is the "right way" the "only way". Most Conservatives literally believe that God has ordained that they be in charge.

To that end, they are able to do whatever needs to be done to fulfill "His plan". The reason they accept Trump even as they espouse morality is that he is a vehicle by which they were able to gain power. They value power over any internal consistency.

They actually serve one master and that master is POWER. People come and go, but POWER is always there and they believe it should rightfully be theirs.

In the end it'll be like Whitewater. $45m back then and nothing but some illcit sexual encounter. They'll probably find Joe didn't signal a right turn while riding his bike seven years ago on a Delaware Street or something and portray it as "bicyclegate". It'll be like the tan suit "scandal".

I’m sure the MAGAts and Faux Faithful loved hearing it, but good gawd it was seriously a case of “don’t believe your lying eyes” for anyone else with a remotely functioning brain. Watters is a complete scum, but Faux allows and encourages him to make such statements. It’s their business model.
