Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) blasted President Bidens decision Monday to keep the headquarters of the Space Command in Colorado, overturning former President Trumps decision to move it to Alabama.
As soon as Joe Biden took office, he paused movement on that decision and inserted politics into what had been a fair and objective competitionnot because the facts had changed, but because the political party of the sitting President had changed, Tuberville said in his statement.
Tuberville is locked in a standoff with the Pentagon over its abortion policy, placing a hold on hundreds of Bidens military nominations in protest.
Some officials have said Alabamas restrictive abortions laws played into the Space Command HQ decision, though the White House said it was motivated entirely by concerns that a major move would undermine military readiness.

(4,128 posts)...like a real politician and horse-traded with the DOD and Joe. Instead, he's merely the horse's ass now with shit on his ugly face.
This is a battle he already lost as Joe may override his hold anyway. And yes, some he will say he can't do that. Oh yeah? He can declare a national emergency as C.I.C, promote in one fell swoop every candidate, thumb his nose at "rules" and beg the R's to sue, even before the SC.
Bet he wins!

(2,640 posts)The fact that changed was that YOU decided to be a dick and hold up military nominations over the abortion issue, thereby harming our nation's military readiness.
It only makes sense that President Biden would not want to entrust Space Command headquarters to a state whose Congressman holds the military and our nation's security in such low regard.

(25,410 posts)Biden stopped the move before Tuberville started sabotaging our military.
There is no reason to move the facility. It would take years to move, and, in the meantime, operations of Space Command would be hampered.
Biden just saved tons of money by canceling yet another capricious decision by Trump.

Does he actually do anything in Washington other than use up oxygen and be a general pain in the ass? (That's a rhetorical question.)

(23,175 posts)nominations, our national security is at risk. As long as the positions aren't filled, why increase the risk that we already have? People like tuberville are undermining our country. And unfortunately, he was elected by citizens of alabama, which means that his constituents are fine with threatening national security.
Let the bases, the command centers, the personnel stay in states where national security is taken more seriously.
Oh yeah, f.u. tommy.
