...one about an outlier poll about an election 16 months from now that shows Trump and Pres. Biden tied.
Another claims a dearth of black support for the president without a smidge of evidence other than a poll from May, and quotes from two black men they found saying exactly what Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are saying almost daily about an unfinished agenda, but twisting that into a dubious referendum against the president from 'black voters.'
Whatever reservations or qualms voters may have about Joe Biden, they are mostly superficial and not substantive to his actual presidency. There isn't really some substantial swath of Americans who would vote for Trump because of the incumbent president's age. That's not going to happen.
There isn't some substantial swath of Americans who will oppose Pres. Biden because of the business schemes his son was involved in. No one is going to make that decision based on Joe Biden answering phone calls from his son.
There isn't some trap door of doom waiting to swallow up Pres. Biden's chances for re-election. More importantly, there isn't a candidate in the republican field that can beat Joe Biden based on whatever ambivalence that these ridiculous polls can measure this far out from an election.
Head to head, issue to issue, Joe Biden excels on both his record of accomplishment and his aspirations for his second term. We'll hear a lot about some dashed expectations of this or that voter, but there won't be any credible denigration of what Joe Biden has done in office so far.
That's the reason news orgs and journos invent these cynical reports and produce polls which even they admit can't predict the future as far out as they imagine.
You can't talk about the Biden accomplishments without weighing the scale so far in Democrats' favor that republicans will be openly revealed to their viewers and readers to be as vacuous as the silly, self-owning hearings they hold daily; high-fiving themselves afterward for the inane theater they're producing with taxpayer dollars so their rabid republican supporters can scratch their bellies and drool on themselves in anticipation of the ressurection of the orange slime mold they intend to nominate for president.
When Americans want a circus, they'll cheer wildly for the animals and clowns. When voters think about their core interests and well-being, they'll leave the circus tent behind, scrape the elephant shit off their shoes, and ride their donkey home.

Billions of $ won't be spent if the race is all but decided. Gotta keep things close and throw more wood on the fire. Nothing better for advertising dollars that a good brawl on the boob tube (or social media).

(24,906 posts)They will do anything to make the election sound like a close race, and it's going to be difficult. I'm sure they will do and say things they have never had to do and say before.
If by some miracle Trump is found guilty of every crime he is charged with, sentenced to hundreds of years in prison and is sitting in a supermax cell on election day, cable news will be calling the race a dead heat.

(58,785 posts)of helping elect Repubs has never been bigger, and I'm thinking of the desperation with which agents like the NYT, AP, the editorial board of the WSJ, many others, now throw off their ethical pretenses to spread bald-faced deceits as elections approach, 2016 especially.
The polling industry has for some time been increasingly corrupted as the MSM depends on crooked polls for its sabotage of the Democratic Party.
This kind of thing and worse will be SOP from now until it steps up summer after next as RW forces become increasingly frantic again.

Good luck with that. The indictment news will drown out EVERYTHING when it comes.

Another 'both-sides' tactic (IMO).... Republican continue to shoot themselves in the foot, so gotta do something damaging to Biden to keep up the drama....

A nd McCarthy said today that he has heard from many who did not vote for Trump that they are voting for him now because of the indictments.. TOTAL BULLSHIT FROM A BIG TIME BULLSHITTER
who is hell says "I did not vote for Trump but now that he is indicted for stealing secret documents, showing them around , refusing to give them back and then trying to delete evidence, NOW BY GOD, HE'S NOW GOT MY VOTE!??
No sane person would think that way, only a total LUNATIC..or Kevin is lying..

(29,251 posts)The other day on the nightly news a person complained that what's in their wallet is shrinking and gas prices increasing, sort of out of the blue. The country's going in the wrong direction, we're all supposed to think.
Even if from now until next November the economy is fine and prices aren't going up, a sense of doom that disaster is right around the corner. When Republicans are in charge everything's great until disaster and then it's: How did that happen we didn't see that coming how unexpected and totally not Republicans fault. Now it's impending doom because disarrayed Democrats don't do anything or mess things up; the nice Republicans are the competent adult party waiting in the wings to bring back order and success. It's insane.
But Hunter Biden. Following the rule that if you can't go after accomplishments and policy, go after character, we're supposed to think President Biden is a liar. An old liar who breaks promises and ignores everyone. Black voters will be targeted and encouraged to be cynical and leave the party because taken for granted, young voters will be targeted and told that Biden doesn't listen to them about climate change and is digging in their backyards for oil right now. "Ignore" is my trigger word.
For some reason this whole thing reminds me of when the waiter in a restaurant tells you the specials and asks if there are any questions and your dining companion makes them go through the list again in detail and ten minutes later orders what they always order anyway. What a waste of time.

(90,654 posts)And then those people presumably wanna know more. So that's how you develop and keep an audience. The truth often isn't as sexy as the lies and distortions are, and usually are promoted by people who don't yell and scream and throw temper tantrums in public. Unfortunately, the latter is what attracts attention and gets people talking. Just cheap 'n' cheesy. But it gets more ears and eyeballs.
Keeping this in the headlines as a horse race is good for ratings. It's all about the money.

(998 posts)Posting and running headlines like "Trump can win," "Democrats overconfident," "Biden's approval plummets" scares the crap out of all sane Americans and gets them to tune in and try to calm their fears.
The media has been doing this every day since Trump left the White House. They know it works like a charm. If ratings or readership are down all they have to do is post a doomsday poll saying Trump and Biden are tied and that most the country believes life sucks.
In reality the general election isn't for another 14 months. Most voters won't even start paying attention to politics until October of 2024. Not a single vote has been cast in the Republican primaries yet and the pundits have decided with absolutely certainty that Trump will be the nominee.
We honestly can't trust polls. And I haven't met a single Democrat who is overconfident about winning in 2024 and underestimating Trump's chances.
Really until Iowa and New Hampshire happens the horse race coverage is just white noise.

(171,876 posts)I had to battle the past week regarding the flurry of hand-wringing/pearl-clutching doom predictions that suddenly appeared.
I try to post about the initiatives that this administration is putting in place that are officially announced, which sadly often get ignored because they are apparently boring. Yet later here comes the "But Democrats aren't messaging® !!11!!!!1!!!" or the "'We need to get out there every day®...!!!!11!!1!1" threads (while ignoring the posts that even include youtube or Whitehouse.gov videos or sometimes twitter/X videos, of Democrats in the administration "getting out there every day" with the "messaging" ).

(2,865 posts)reliably predictable, consistent rethug voters historically have told my husband in the last few weeks that they'd "never vote for TFG again." No equivocation whatsoever. They don't divulge who they plan to vote on in his stead or whether they'd just sit it out in 2024 on the presidential vote.
I believe that the corporate media is trying to gin up interest in daytime cable news shows by depicting the looming 2024 election as a horse race, neck-and-neck. They're just creating "news" to generate interest in their brand.

(53,544 posts)There are the hard core that will vote for the scumbag no matter what.
There are those that will hold their nose and vote for the scumbag.
There are those that will vote for Biden and are likely real Independents. If they voted for Trump the last time and then for Biden this time it will be a two vote change.
There are those that will not vote because they are disgusted with a twice indicted and likely convicted scumbag.
There are those that will not vote because they are dead.

(4,741 posts)That the vast majority of US media are traitors. They have always gone out of their way to favor and carry water for the traitor party and the oligarchs backing them.
I was watching that evening when the wide shot of the TV studio showed NBC staff cheering the election of Nixon in 1968.
Nearly everything they've done since then, outside of the small blip of Watergate coverage, has only confirmed that I saw their true nature that night.
