Fox News edits Petraeus timeline

Fox News: We Distort, You Comply....

If you compare the FoxNews.com timeline with the one on Politico.com (also obtained via AP), you'll see several differences. But this one is the most striking.

Politico: Late Summer 2012— Attorney General Eric Holder is notified (of the FBI investigation into the harassing emails sent by Petraeus' mistress to Jill Kelley). By this time, the FBI has long since concluded there was no national security breach, but continues investigating whether Petraeus had any role in the harassing emails sent to Kelley.

FoxNews: Late summer 2012-- Attorney General Eric Holder is notified.

Why does this matter? Because Fox News is doing its best to suggest that Holder covered something up from President Obama or else informed the President of this investigation and President Obama covered it up. If all the investigation amounted to was a jealous woman sending harassing emails to another woman it's pretty understandable that Holder would not make a point of telling President Obama in the midst of a hectic campaign schedule, the Democratic National Convention, presidential debates and, of course, the attacks on American outposts in Libya and Cairo.
