I was following the National Archives/Jan. 6 committee executive privilege litigation and loved this line from this judge's opinion.

She rejected his arguments that he could hold privilege over documents from his administration even after President Joe Biden had cleared the way for the National Archives to turn the papers over. She wrote that Trump could not claim his privilege exists in perpetuity.
In a memorable line from her ruling, Chutkan wrote, Presidents are not kings, and Plaintiff is not President.

Tanya was born in Jamaica and the loose canon (Cannon) was born in Colombia. Chutkan comes from an illustrious Jamaican family.

Robynne and her sister, Tanya Chutkan recently visited SAHS. Both SAOGs, Robynne and Tanya are doing great things in Washington DC - Tanya was appointed by President Obama to the US District Court for the District of Columbia. SAHS Trailblazers for sure.

(28,277 posts)He came into classroom one day (it was the day we were discussing the SCOTUS decision in U.S. v. Nixon--the Watergate tapes case) and wrote on the blackboard*:
"LEX REX > REX LEX"
A few minutes into the class, he explained what it meant, translated roughly from Latin: "'The Law is King' is better than 'The King is Law'." i.e., better to live under the rule of law than under the law of the ruler."
Needless to say, he was a liberal Democrat, and he shaped me very significantly.
(*yes, there were blackboards on the walls in those days. With *chalk*.)
