?
A very, VERY senior member of the Trump administration whom Rick Wilson agreed not to identify sent a message directly to Wilson. Rick shared the message with the audience of the show, never revealing the identity of the sender. The message was as follows: I regret serving in his administration more than anything Ive ever done in my life. Keep going. Youre patriots. Dont quit.
After reading the message to the Breakdown audience, Wilson ended the brief segment with a few choice words of his own: And if you knew who that was, your f*cking eyes would pop out.

(33,643 posts)It wouldn't be THAT eye-popping but it definitely worked out poorly for that guy. Same is true for Bolton.
Kellyanne is not unthinkable here, nor is Kayleigh, nor is Spicer.
The most mind-blowing would be Stephen Miller.

someone who walked away and can maintain they took the high road after their eyes were opened.
Id consider a side bet on Elaine Chao, though.

(49,296 posts)it was pretty obvious within weeks how his presidency was going to go. The person who contacted Wilson probably stuck around for quite a while, saw many horrible things and did very little to try and stop it.

Accurate shocker though if it was Michael Flynn?

(23,497 posts)I think he is crackpot, self serving and power hungry but Pence seems to have some tiny bit of empathy and I do not see how he felt about the child separation policy at the border with the subsequent kidnapping of thousands of migrant children.
Whoever it is must be someone who has some conscience.

(35,075 posts)They lined their pockets very well during our 4 year nightmare. Several patents and at least 2 billion dollars... If they were truly feeling regret, they could start the path to redemption by returning the money and signing those patents over to the American people. 🙄

(3,417 posts)In the past week hes just beginning to feel the growth of a spine. Its slow, for sure, but maybe sending a message without his name attached to a dissident Republican show after failing to testify to a Congressional committee or to stand up for himself or his family-maybe this is courage to him.
PatSeg
(53,214 posts)Pence can get. Who knows, maybe he prayed on it and God told him to grow a spine and speak up! Maybe he has to do it in baby steps until he can become comfortable with bravery and honesty.

Couldnt be anybody else. And EVERYBODYS eyes would pop out if thats who it is.
Besides, this particular Mr. Morality has a conscience - one he buried WAY deep while he was in bed with trump. And what he knows he enabled has been bothering him bigtime ever since then.
Hugh_Lebowski
(33,643 posts)I mean whoever came out with this had to at least be considering the possibility that Wilson would betray them/give their name out anyway.
I don't know if Meadows risks that at this particular stage, even if it were what he now thinks. I'm sure he's very lawyered up and I doubt any lawyer would advise him telling Rick Wilson something like that.
Pence seems like a more logical choice esp. now that I see this person was purportedly in the admin from 2016-2020. That's not many people.

thesquanderer
(13,006 posts)While he has to be careful in criticizing Trump publicly, his slim-to-none chance of being the republican nominee increases a bit if Trump is somehow cut off at the knees, so his support of Wilson's efforts would make sense.
Though I'm not sure I see Pence listening to a Rick Wilson podcast. Or even knowing how to.
Irish_Dem
(81,266 posts)But yes more so if they are running for office.
Pence has a PR team who tells him what to say and where to say it.
He didn't think up any of this.
So it does make sense the call came from Pence.

(41,634 posts)I'm SURE Rex Tillerson does regret ever being in the same state as Chump, no question.
Whoever sent this message to Rick Wilson was in the Chump administration for the entire 4 years. How many people could that be? Almost everyone quit or got fired, except Mike Pence and only a handful of others.

(3,192 posts)Sure, she wasn't technically a "senior member" of the administration. But she was responsible for changing the rose garden into a concrete slab and, of course, for some very Tim Burtonesque White House Christmas decor -- and in so-doing, made a very public image of Trump's soul.
And we know she hated the morbidly obese, incontinent loud mouth even more than he hates people of color.
So she had motive (hatred) and opportunity (because she has plenty of time on her hands) -- and quite possibly a friend or servant who could show her how the "message" thing works.

(35,075 posts)If s/he's still too much of a coward to come forward, it means they'll fall in line again should the worst happen and tfgi gets reinstalled. So, fuck whoever sent that. They enabled and supported the coup attempt.
That said, if someone has the time or interest they could check the Twitter accounts of the senior members and see who writes like that. But I don't care. They're all traitors but the sane ones (if any) would certainly regret working for tfg.

(7,794 posts)anonymously volunteer is largely pre-fall cushioning and politics of a most self-serving nature. Rick Wilson's stature as an honest broker of historical truths is not increased by this. "F*cking eyes would pop out" indeed! What could be the possible use for maintaining this fellow's anonymity unless they're both afraid of Trump? OR, and most likely, the role of "mystery" source will best extend their short shelf-life click-bait value. Clicks are the coin of the realm, you know.

(5,125 posts)had something to do with Ivana's (Ivanka's mother) fall-down-the-stairs death. This is why:
He holds a grudge and boasts about the revenge he gets. Trump blamed her for his fucked up hair transplant procedure. Ivana recommended someone to him. He assaulted and raped her, which she testified to in her divorce deposition, which pissed trump off all the more. I believe he found his time for revenge. I believe Ivanka and her siblings know this.
And I guess her NDA was soon going to expire (according to another du'er).
