(82,383 posts)I was only explaining the other's position.
A. Mitchell is worthless compared to most books. She is not a source of information. Maybe their ratings would go up if she were replaced with a person who had true information to impart. No reason not to write to CNN to say so. Or does freedom of speech stop there? Talk about letting the corporate media win. And we could also try to convince people she only imparts bias and disinformation. No free speech for that?

She's well past her time for TV anchor - completely unwatchable, and of course an aristocratic, but republican?

(113,957 posts)She certainly has a long-burning hatred of HRC...

(842 posts)but she's been a long term (D), and really ticked off (R) party many times.
Then again people like this aren't party specific - they are the top part of the country's caste system.

(58,785 posts)She and her DC friends, including Ben and Sally Quinn Bradlee of the WaPo, played a huge part in creating "Hillary's baggage" and hauling it around after her. My observations have been that she's always been a nasty, dishonest piece of work, and was given to histrionic displays of distress whenever Hillary was doing well. But she's talented and, most importantly, extremely well connected. Her husband Alan Greenspan was Republican and economically libertarian, btw.

(69,850 posts)The food is terribleand such small portions!
Woody Allen opened his film Annie Hall (1977) with:
Theres an old joke - um two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of em says, Boy, the food at this place is really terrible. The other one says, Yeah, I know; and such small portions.
The joke is, as stated, an old joke and did not originate with Woody Allen. Harry Hershfield (1885-1974) originated the joke with this caption for a drawing in Bronx Ballads (1927):
You dont like the eating at the Benjamin Arms, Mrs. Margoliesf
No! It was terrible! Every mouthful was positively poison and what small portions they give you of it.
Wikipedia: Harry Hershfield
Harry Hershfield (October 13, 1885 - December 15, 1974) was an American cartoonist, humor writer and radio personality. A columnist once labeled him the Jewish Will Rogers.

(106,207 posts)The food joke is about the contradiction between "the food is terrible" and "they don't give us enough". The OP, however, is saying "Andrea Mitchell is terrible" and "they should never show her" - which is consistent. There are a limited number of news networks and channels; if you were trying to say "you shouldn't watch her, then", it would be a significant restriction to say "never watch NBC or MSNBC in case Mitchell comes on".
Sorry to overanalyse the original joke, but I didn't think you got it.

(4,616 posts)Isn't a NEWS network. It's a political and news COMMENTARY organization. Hence all the "paid contributors" and pundits. Thinking it's NEWS is the first mistake.

(51,308 posts)The hate threads on Mitchell, on Morning Joe, Chris Matthews, CNN, Hannity, etc., are really funny.
People apparently turn on the TV, choose that channel, and then continue to watch even if there's a person reporting that they don't like.
There are a couple of hosts on both CNN and MSNBC that I can't stand. If I happen to run across them, I just turn the channel or do something else. Seems simple to me.
Maybe we should have a forum just for hate threads on TV personalities.

Though the Speck doesn't quite counter the entertainment of something, it sure as hell ofren reduces it.

...In Andrea Mitchells report on NBC Nightly News (2/5/03), Powells allegations became actual capabilities of the Iraqi military: Powell played a tape of a Mirage jet retrofitted to spray simulated anthrax, and a model of Iraqs unmanned drones, capable of spraying chemical or germ weapons within a radius of at least 550 miles.
