General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWill Trump and his lawyers be able to stall and delay all the trials beyond election day?
Because of the classified nature of the documents in the Mar-a-Lago case, they may be able to stretch it out ?
But, with the Judge and the prosecution set on a "speedy" trial in the January 6th case, it is difficult to see how they delay it to any meaningful extent?
If Fani Willis indicts on RICO charges, one might expect it to take a little longer than normal to get to the end?
At this time, the January 6th charges, the most important of the cases, looks like it will be the most likely to go to trial.
It does seem like the Trump team is putting extra effort into fighting the charges stemming from January 6th, in my opinion.

(9,919 posts)But frankly, the coverage of these trials, the time they stay in the news, is likely to affect the outcome of elections more than the verdict itself.
And I sincerely hope that the trials do not end too soon. Voters have short memories. Any trial, and more importantly media coverage of the trial, that ends two months before the election or sooner, no matter what the outcome, will surely play in Trumps favor. Because people forget very quickly.

(31,477 posts)So many people in America, it seems, would rather believe the polls than actual people voting at election time. I am just tired of the term front-runner, nobodys a front runner yet. There has been no voting

Makes me very sad, but I think it is unlikely any go to trial before the election.

(1,976 posts)speedy is the J6 trial, to me, that's the least winnable. the lawyers can spin everything from him genuinely not knowing, to being manipulated by his staff, to drilling non stop parts of his j6 speech where he said "go peacefully to the capital".
The rest of the speech was mob attack orders, but he did say the above line. That's why I think this case will be the toughest to win. Fortunately this case has a legit judge on it. If it was slimebag Cannon it would be thrown out within a day.
