The most chilling exchange of the new indictment
Aug. 3, 2023, 6:00 AM EDT
Out of the many new details revealed in former President Donald Trump's third indictment, the most chilling one may be a discussion between Trump's White House deputy counsel Patrick Philbin and "Co-Conspirator 4" who, based on the Jan. 6 Committee report, appears to be Jeffrey Clark, a former top Justice Department official in the Trump administration. That discussion, in which the man believed to be Clark suggests using the Insurrection Act, underscores how Trump's inner circle wasn't simply seeking ways to delay Trump's departure from the White House, but actively gaming out how he could stay in power even in the face of a mass movement to restore democracy using military force.

The Most Frightening Part of the Trump Indictment
Aug. 4, 2023
Later that day, Co-Conspirator 4 spoke with Philbin, who told him that there had not been outcome-determinative fraud in the election and that if the defendant President Trump remained in office nonetheless, there would be riots in every major city in the United States. To which Co-Conspirator 4 is said to have responded, Well, thats why theres an Insurrection Act.

Team Trumps Plan: Weaponize the Insurrection Act Against Democracy
Warned that there would be riots if they stole the 2020 election, one Trump team member invoked a law that allows the military to be deployed against U.S. civilians
AUGUST 1, 2023
But the current indictment alleges that the Insurrection Act was considered as a means to use the power of the military or perhaps even informal militias to suppress the righteous outrage of American voters at the theft of an election by the thief himself, with the guidance and cheer-leading of his hand-picked lackey at the Department of Justice.

Did this guy just wake up from a coma, or is he still tuckered out from blaming Joe Biden for Trump's agreement to precipitously withdraw from Afghanistan?
If you want to know more about the person being promoted in the OP, he believes Joe Biden to be responsible for what he calls the worst thing to happen since Pearl Harbor:
https://thedispatch.com/article/whats-next-for-the-us-in-afghanistanand/
By Kevin Carroll
It is difficult to find foreign policy failures as significant to the United States as the one we suffered in Kabul last weekend. [...]
The closest parallel might be when Japan sank much of our Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor [...]
President Joe Biden made the decisions resulting in this debacle against the best military advice of the Defense Department. That is his clear prerogative as commander-in-chief, but he owns the results, despite his attempts to disclaim responsibility that would embarrass a newly minted corporal and his refusal thus far to address our country during the crisis.
So, kinda weird for this guy to show up a week late with an observation that's been made by others for quite a while now already.

(8,387 posts)10. Yeah good point
Maybe it would help to not promote the loyal foot soldiers whom he appointed to positions to do exactly that at the Dept. of Homeland Security, who are now figuring out the wind has changed and trying to get the Trump stank off.
This jackoff was fine with the Trump agenda until he left when Trump fired John Kelly.
Now he defends white collar criminals, and doesnt like Joe Biden much. Interesting find.
