AxiosWhy it matters: A potential three-way battle, with Sen. Kyrsten Sinema running as an independent, will expose deep divisions in both parties on whether to appeal to their bases or independents in a critical 2024 battleground state.
The race will have implications in the presidential campaign and give President Biden an opportunity to run against the "ultra MAGA" mindset that Lake represents, even if former President Trump isn't Biden's opponent in November 2024.
Lake, who has not conceded her gubernatorial loss in 2022, is one of Trump's most ardent defenders and frequently amplifies the false election claims at the heart of the former president's most recent indictment.

Then why not just run for the office of 'President' herself :: Right Now

(23,219 posts)Gallego actually performs better with Sinema in the race.

(33,424 posts)Their general election poll did two Republicans -- Lamb and Wright. Those two get 11% and 2% in the R primary poll. Lake got 42% and they did not even include her name. So if you don't even poll the leading R in the general election poll it is pretty worthless.

Yes, its too early, but once Lake declares, and primary season starts, things should get a bit clearer.

(258 posts)This woman is very unintelligent and only cares about power. I cannot see her doing anything but dragging down the Republicans here in Arizona. Which is exactly what we need because there are going to be some close races like they were in 2022.
As great as it was to celebrate Hobbs/Fontes' wins we still got stuck with crooked ass Tom Horne as education secretary. He didn't win by much and it would be really great to get a Dem in there. As much as I am wary about Democrats embracing big business; Democrats should focus on how difficult it will be to fill all these chip manufacturing jobs because Republicans have decimated the education system here. It's already making it difficult to fill all the manufacturing jobs to just build the plants right now, let alone staff the plants themselves when they're finished.

(29,633 posts)She has done herself no favors since the gubernatorial election and has weakened her brand drastically. Bring it on.

(258 posts)And she probably won't be able to Pivot away during a general election just like before.
I'm hoping for at least one ad that prominently features the "governor" jacket.

(26,173 posts)isn't changing parties. She can't beat Lake in the primary. Won't beat Lake in the general. Switching parties was the dumbest move to get reelected. Meaning, she is only in the Senate for the money right now and we all know it.
From what I've seen she's barely even raising money.
I could see her filling the role that Geraldo vacated at Fox News.
