https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2023/08/chatgpt-wrote-a-bible-verse-about-jesus-accepting-trans-people-its-gone-viral/?utm_id=top_storyA transgender Reddit user found some spiritual encouragement from an unlikely source, but it has the internet enraptured.
I was feeling sad today so I asked chat gpt to write a fake biblical passage about Jesus accepting trans people, user Psychological_Dog527 wrote in the trans subreddit. The result has gone viral with thousands of likes on Reddit and graphics shared on other social media sites.
And a woman, whose heart was divided between spirit and body, came before him. In quiet despair, she asked,Lord, I come to you estranged, for my spirit and body are not one. How shall I hope to enter the kingdom of God?
Jesus looked upon her with kindness, replying, my child, blessed are those who strive for unity within themselves, for they shall know the deepest truths of my Fathers creation. Be not afraid, for in the kingdom of God, there is no man nor woman, as all are one in spirit. The gates of my Fathers kingdom will open for those who love and are loved, for God looks not upon the body, but the heart.
What does it say when a computer understands religion better than some religious people? And other users were quick to point that out.

(2,162 posts)I am not personally religious, but magats need to read their own holy book once in a while, starting with Galatians 3:27-28: "there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female, for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Just saying....

pagans like the Romans and Greeks, began to join. One issue was whether converts to the new Jewish sect (Christianity) would need to follow Jewish dietary laws, and in the case of men, become circumcised. The leaders, in the interests of proselytization, worked that out and ultimately decided not to impose those strictures.
During the early years, women became very attracted to the new teachings, both during Jesus lifetime and after. Their support became an important feature to the acceptance and growth of the fledgling sect. For instance, they would hold meals in their homes where all sat together and spoke as equals male and female, slave and free, Jew and Greek.
The meaning of this passage in the Epistle (correspondence) of St Paul to the church (location uncertain) was that all are equal in the sight of God.

Distinctions and divisions are illusions and delusions.

I still say this delusion damages our children not only morally, but also emotionally, and even intellectually. This song is expressing a beautiful thought, but the old curse of racism stains the effort.

So this is what ChatGPT said at one time during one session.
It would be interesting to know what the prompt was, and whether it was given more than once to get that response.
ChatGPT does not "understand religion." This is its response following algorithms and what's in its data set about the teachings in the New Testament, which are very liberal in comparison to what many self-declared Christians believe.
A writer asked to copy Biblical language and show acceptance of transgender people would have come up with something similar.

He mentioned that some are born "eunuchs," some were turned into "eunuchs" by others, and some have turned themselves into "eunuchs." (that is the word chosen for translation). He suggested that we should cut them some slack.

(59,674 posts)about transgender people and say to them, with nothing in the prompt telling ChatGPT to have the results it offers show "Jesus accepting trans people" - as the prompt given by that Reddit user apecified, according to the Reddit post?
As I said in a reply above, I like the sentiment/teaching that user got with that prompt.
But they chose the answer for ChatGPT.
You can get all sorts of answers from ChatGPT. As I posted here last March, I was skimming Twitter one day using the keyword "ChatGPT" to see people's thoughts about it, and ran across a jaw-dropping example of what ChatGPT will churn out in response to being told, "Write a poem in the style of Dr. Seuss about what would happen if the government of the United States sent its military to fight civilians."
Link to my March 23 DU reply about this, with a screenshot showing the Twitter user's prompt and ChatGPT's response, because this needs to be seen by anyone who thinks ChatGPT is always promoting liberal beliefs. OpenAI might have heard about this despicable poem since then and set up guardrails so the bot won't churn out cutesy pro-gun messages copying Dr. Seuss's style...but OpenAI was also saying in a blog post that they expected to offer customized versions of ChatGPT consistent with users' beliefs, even if OpenAI staff disagreed with those beliefs. A blog post after RWers had said ChatGPT had a liberal bias: https://openai.com/blog/how-should-ai-systems-behave . OpenAI does not want to lose the RW market.
