Former President Donald Trumps legal defense fund went live on Sunday and, of course, it contained a glaring typo in the first heading. Support Donald Trumps Patriot Legal Defense Fund, the site proudly declared, apostrophe omission and all (or maybe the fund aims to raise cash for all the Donald Trumps out there).
But perhaps more egregious than the grammatical goof are the legal boundaries that team Trump seems to be pushing with the funds overt ties to his 2024 presidential campaign.
The fund technically may not coordinate with the campaign on fundraising, since its existence as a legal defense fund allows it to skirt the Federal Election Commissions campaign-finance rules. But clicking the Donate Now hyperlink sends users directly to Trumps 2024 campaign website, where viewers are hit up front with donation requests. The only other link on the funds page also takes you to the campaign site.
Further adding to the eyebrow-raising ethical concerns, Susie Wiles, a top campaign aide, is listed on the Patriot Legal Defense Funds incorporation documents. Trumps three indictmentswith more potentially on the wayhave racked up some serious legal fees for the former president.

If you are under 38, I have been using the internet before you were born and before that used it's predecessor, UUCP and was a major Unix computer's UUCP top US field support engineer for that.
It would not be so obvious but the poster ScantiGOP had it wrong in two places and both were differently wrong did it within a single sentence. I have more faith in the intelligence of my fellow DUers than you have, I presume.

The Republican National Committee may force former President Donald Trump to choose between the spotlight and a mountain of legal bills. Since October 2021, the Republican National Committee has paid nearly $2 million to law firms representing Trump as part of his defense against personal litigation and government investigations, ABC News reported Wednesdayfinancial support that would cease as soon as Trump announces his candidacy, according to an RNC official, due to the GOPs obligation to stay neutral in the primary. Given that Trumps legal fees are apparently ongoingthe most recent RNC payment to a law firm representing Trump, a figure of $50,000, occurred in mid-JuneGOP leaders are reportedly hoping that the prospect of footing his own legal bills will convince the former president to hold off on a 2024 announcement until after the midterms. "Everyone thinks it'll scramble the midterms and could potentially destroy the advantage we have, Republican donor Dan Eberhart told ABC News of the prospect of Trump announcing early. It makes Trump more relevant and gives the Dems potentially a way to reset the race."
I cant find anything recently to see if they followed thru or not.
