Here in this household we had a discussion about how stressful the last seven years have been and were floored when between us all it was laid out:
Every single damn day we've suffered worry and strain; broke from friends and family we've had pleasant relationships with until their indoctrination; went into lock-down and tried to avoid Covid-19 while watching others deny it was real, or promote dangerous treatments and no vaccines; watched our standing in the world take a terrible turn; watched civil rights achievements upended and hard-won rights evaporate; watched the rise of Christian Nationalism and Fascism; watched Russians invited into the White House as VIPs; witnessed the erosion/destruction of important government programs and departments that make life better for American people; worried about our retirement and well-being going forward; worried about the safety and well-being of others; watched regulations and accountability vanish while large corporations took a stranglehold over our economy and destroyed the so-called "free market"--leaving most of us out; watched the homeless population increase everywhere; watched prices increase sharply on our meds, food, and items we need; watched our mail service slow down to where we may need the Pony Express again; found ourselves increasingly dealing with threatening MAGAloons while going about our business; worried about our votes being rejected or made irrelevant due to voter suppression efforts and stealing; watched gun sales go through the roof and realized there are armed MAGAloons everywhere; and on-and-on.
In a nutshell we are super stressed to the point of PTSD. Everything we had come to feel secure with is gone. We avoid social settings and events and no longer participate in our community as we once did.
To be sure, the indictments are welcome and we celebrate with each one. No indictment fatigue here.

Everything about him triggers me. He needs a hazmat warning label branded across his face.

(10,969 posts)I'm tired of hearing about the man. Just all done.
That doesn't mean I'm not happy he's charged and won't be thrilled when he's either convicted, drops out, or is defeated at the ballot box. Whichever option gets the job done.
But I'm not reading about him anymore. I have zero interest. I glanced through the pdf of the indictment when it came out for knowledge's sake, which is probably more than most Americans will do. Not reading any stories, don't care about the minutiae, don't want to have a discussion about him. I have filters on DU so a chunk of it never swims past my vision.
When there's eventful news (conviction, acquittal, cerebrovascular accident, etc), I'll look.
Until then, he's not a part of my world or conversations.
It's very pleasant!

(113,957 posts)whether we want to or not---for most of the rest of our lives. When one becomes infamous (Hitler, Mussolini, Generalissimo Franco, Benedict Arnold, Joseph McCarthy, Stalin, Nixon, and the whole gamut of historical figures--from the truly evil to just corrupt... ) those names come up continually until they die, and even then all too frequently.

(14,272 posts)We have all learned to hear those evil names with a blunted response, because they are from the past. We will never forget, though.
My hope is that the evil orange super-villain will wind up in prison and his indoctrinated followers will fall away. My wish is that even the media will find any mutterings of his that escape prison to be so pathetic they won't even cover them. That, to me, seems the most hellish scenario for him to be stuck in. In death, he'll just be gone. I want him to suffer.

(14,721 posts)The one thing I can tell you is that as bad as they are today, they will be worse tomorrow, and next year, and the next generation. There has never been a day since Nixon resigned, that the GOP did not greet the Sun a little less evil than they were the day before.
Yeah, that's exhausting, but not for them - only for their victims. They never seem to get tired of it.

Maybe I'm fooling myself, but they have nothing but hate and fear to offer.

(76,697 posts)...as indictment fatigue, you'd think the media espousing this would be blaming TFG for breaking so many laws in different jurisdictions that it made all this necessary.
Instead, they lazily blame career prosecutors for daring to do their jobs.
