BY SARAH FORTINSKY - 08/17/23 10:12 AM ET
John Dean, the White House counsel to former President Nixon, predicted a grim fate for ... Giuliani ... I think Rudy is going to get destroyed by this. Its sad but true ...
I think hes in deep trouble. The governments case looks like its overwhelming. His federal issues have not been resolved. Trump could not pardon him in Georgia if, indeed, he is convicted in Georgia, Dean said.
But he added, I dont think Trump is going to make it back to the White House. I think people are starting to get a glimmer of what that could be, and they dont want it ...
Dean predicted that a likely outcome for Giuliani, who now faces legal troubles on a vast scale, is to file for bankruptcy and get a court-appointed lawyer to represent him ...

Rudy was frequently on television during 45's term. He waived a cell phone claiming it held evidence incriminating Hunter Biden regarding Ukraine. He went on Faux and acted in a chldish and hyperactive manner (he rolled sideways on the couch and assumed a near fetal position) and he breathless exclaimed he would be back on at noon with smoking gun evidence against Hunter (he never showed back uo that day). He made news when he butt dialed an NBC reporter and inadvertently allowed to be recorded on the reporter's voice mail portions of a conversation he was having with an unidentified male to whom he states, "The problem is we need some money." He went in to indicate the amount was a few hundred thousand dollars. The district attorney has evidence of many more actions of his. John Dean may be correct in his assessment of Giuliani's future.

Both links look identical to me, but one works for me and one doesn't.

(9,148 posts)I think part of the reason he was able to ride that train for so long was that in comparison to Dubya, who was skittering around the country like a scared squirrel that day, Giuliani seemed like a semi-rational "leader" in a couple of soundbites.

I said I have thought about it. What the hell was he doing?

(22,604 posts)Rudy's term as mayor expired December 31, 2001. He could have retired, rode off into the sunset, forever known as "America's Mayor." Perhaps making a routine speech or two at Republican conventions, but little else. Just as TFG could have just kept on as a landlord: corrupt, but just out of reach of the law.
But no. Like a Shakespearean tragedy, they both were consumed by greed and lust for power, and now flames are engulfing them both, and they will go down as among the most infamous in all of history.

He testifies against everybody in ALL pending cases.
He gets to live in a cushy prison for twenty years or his mortal demise...whichever comes first. He eats prison food, has limited and monitored communications, and gets a "ginger mint" every night for dessert.
It is the best he can hope for. He should take the deal. Any assets he owns are forfeited in the civil case to Shea Maus and Ruby Freeman.

The D.C. Bars Dry Takedown of Rudy Giuliani Is Brutal

Supreme Court of the State of New York Court decision

Rudy had 20 days to submit a request, in writing, to this Court for a post suspension hearing. I don't think he did it. So the above, coming from a court decision is basically undisputable fact in the Jan 6 and GA cases.
Also, he may have violated the bottom of their order "that respondent is forbidden to give another an opinion as to the law or its application or advice in relation thereto, all effective the date hereof, until such time as disciplinary matters pending before the Committee have been concluded and until further order of this Court,"
He delivered quite a rant about RICO, said he knew more about RICO than anyone and alleged Fani's misuse of it. Maybe I'm nitpicking here ..
Giuliani Concedes He Made False Statements About Georgia Election Workers
https://www.nytimes.com/2023/07/26/us/politics/giuliani-georgia-election-workers.html
Again, that is in court and indisputable now.
Beyond the good quality indictments in DC & GA, he has the above and what is happening to the other lawyers he worked with to combat.
His legal situation is approaching his financial situation. Deep trouble.

(3,919 posts)It is not sad in the slightest way.
What is sad is that someone with all the wealth, power, and success that Giuliani had would commit the crimes thT he did.
Bringing him to justice is not sad in the slightest.
