He’s going to be held in very, very low regard by future generations. History will be ruthless with the craven narcissist and all his pathetic sycophants.

since TFG represented a populist reaction mostly against 8 years of a black man in the White House. I think we tend to underestimate how wigged out a lot of people were because we did manage to re elect him, but future historians won't.

They won't understand the religious hysterics, at all, since they will be far removed from the Millennial Fever that produced them.

This era will start with Reagan. I don't know who or what will end it. I just hope it's not another world war.

The power and propaganda structure that caused all this will certainly be a “known known.”

I contend the era begins with the Emancipation Proclamation and continues through the many decades of struggle since.

under the Constitutional definition of 'treason',
is that we are not actually 'at war' with Russia...

Neither the U.S. Constitution nor U.S. Code mentions "war" when defining an enemy of the U.S.

Article III, Section 3.
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted.

18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

It is reasonable to argue that Putin's Russia is an enemy, given the known interference with our elections. Might be tough to get a prosecutor to take the leap and charge traitortrump, though.

had his own "disputed" election in August 2020. When I saw the new Roger Stone video it made me wonder if Stone and buddy Manafort were motivated by or even connected to the Lukashenko "election" a few months earlier. Did they borrow the Lukashenko playbook?

And did plenty of damage with his stooge.

However, if you recall, in the end even Putin thought he was too erratic and nuts. He judged that he couldn’t be trusted in any long running, complex scheme because he acts on the moment.

And Putin's smart enough to have figured that out. But I think he probably would have written Trump off once he lost the election anyway. Trump would be no use to him as a private citizen.

When people talk about Trump fleeing to Russia like Putin would welcome him with open arms, I just shake my head. I don't think Putin has any use for him at all as a non-potus and would have even less interest in him hanging around in Russia as a fugitive. The idea that he would gladly offer Trump a safe haven is just silly, imo.

I wouldn’t doubt this.

Whatever would line his pockets, he’d go for. And Putin strikes me as the type who studies his “prospects” for their weaknesses. He probably played with the donald’s vanity and pretty much owned his ass.
