This is disgusting. Shows an absence of empathy on a level I can't even comprehend.

For a sitting State Board of Education member and current Republican U.S. Senate candidate in Michigan to host a “Back to School Town Hall” at a GUN STORE that is only one hour away from both Oxford and Michigan State University is a whole new level of insensitivity. It’s disgusting. Share widely. Vote accordingly.

It is perfectly legal for a father to purchase a handgun with a minor in tow. It's even legal to have the minor evaluate the gun assuming he would be supervised by an adult when shooting it.

I think they would need to prove that the father bought the handgun with the intention of letting the minor possess it without any supervision unlawfully. That would probably be difficult.

But it's probably worth a try.

Conservatives absolutely understand that they do not (and have never) had numbers on their side. This is why they lie, they create these "culture war" and wedge issues, and they use dirty tricks like voter suppression.

They rile up their smaller, but easier to activate base with fear and hatred. They then use all kinds of tricks to depress the vote of people who are a large minority of the electorate, people who aren't really paying attention. It is a calculated numbers game for them. They do most of their "active" messaging to keep their based aroused and activated. Meanwhile they work in the background on ways to keep the numbers down for the majority of people who agree with liberal policies, but who aren't highly motivated to vote. Disaffected people who are busy or who think that nothing changes.

They are not "tone deaf" as you say, they just know exactly who they are playing to.

What if somebody gets into an argument? If they’re in a frickin’ gun store, bad can go to worse in the space of a heartbeat.

I not only wouldn’t go, I’d complain. A lot. To the school board and superintendent of public instruction, the mayor’s office, and the local newspaper (for which I’d write a letter to the editor.

They count on us remaining silent and not saying (or doing) anything while they rampage and try to terrorize and bully and trample on our rights.

Don’t forget this! Not EVER!!! They COUNT ON us doing nothing about it.
