(25,527 posts)and I'm on record as doubting this "press conference" would ever happen so it was disappointing to see journalists I somewhat respect go along with it as though it was really going to happen.

(17,802 posts)Is tucker in some kind of first amendment bubble that makes anything tfg says inadmissable in court?
If he obstructs justice is it just aspirational because it's a podcast?
Did he fire his lawyers or just pay them early?

(25,527 posts)The media is presenting this decision as him "finally listening to his lawyers." But the chance of him saying something that can be used against him on Tucker's show is probably higher than at a regular press conference.

Remember the table top full of stacks of blank papers claiming, IIRC, that this was the health care plan? The guy is a charlatan. Smoke and mirrors. Loud and proud with no reason to be either.

(58,785 posts)AND probably skipping the first Republican debate (hosted by Fox News and the RNC), now gives way to hope for some Fun with Tucker, if that happens. If so, I trust DoJ staff to be studying every word and movement.
Of course, real NEWS media are obliged to cover tRump's announcements factually as news. He's an ex-POTUS indicted for trying to overthrow the government who's still working on his coup d'etat, a fair amount carried out in public.
Interpretive media, never to be mistaken for news journalism, provide a whole range of takes for every possible flavor preference. My favorites guessed he'd be persuaded to cancel but really, really hoped he wouldn't.
There's also speculation that he could grab attention to himself by turning himself in in Fulton County on the day of the debate. The sheriff did say they're open 24 hours a day.
